To be fair it doesn't, I'd happily put out traffic cones with Sky Blue shirts on against Walsall rather than risk more of our players getting injured

Would you let them do anything in training or is that also too risky?

Play your best team and keep winning. It’s a game of football, players would rather play than train anyway, especially when they’re winning.
This bizarre school of thought, that if players play in anything other than league games then they’re, ergo, compromising everything they’re playing for.
There was this big thing about Arsenal would they rather win the FA Cup or finish 4th as if the two were somehow incompatible.
It’s all bollox.

We've come out of pretty much every other game with a player sustaining a niggle, knock or worse. Do you feel comfortable putting out our first choice starting XI 3 times in one week? I understand that players want to play week in, week out but there lies the problem; sometimes they need to be protected from themselves. This is why managers often rotate their teams.

Well I think that analogy comes from the fact Arsenal are rather unlucky with injuries. Which is a similar situation to us this season. Their thinking is that they believe their players cannot sustain a cup run alongside a successful Premier League campaign. Seasons are based on luck, sometimes clubs go whole seasons without any of their players sustaining serious injury, others aren't so lucky. This is why I think a weaker side should be put out tonight because unfortunately we seem to be in the latter category. Similarly, we should be focusing on getting promoted this season. Arsenal have the luxury of being in the Premier League, we clearly do not!

If we had continued to only play our first team last season, it is likely we would never have won the checkatrade.
Competitions like this are a good way to give young players and fringe players games.
George Thomas used it as a platform form to step up into the team, as did Dion KE.

10 changes! Who will be the unlucky one that keeps their place?

Would imagine that we aren’t taking the competition as serious this season, as that’s a lot of changes for 1 game, even if it is now within the rules!
Won't that be a fine?

Grimmer at centre half? Will be interesting

Where is shipley playing?

Could be Camwell at Cb? Grimmer seems a bit too error prone to be a Cb!

Could see Shipley on the left of the 3? Did well as the left back against Shrewsbury? But guess we will find out soon.

I hope Beavon and McNulty score, they both need a goal

Good selection by MR
Grimmer captain. That makes a strong statement of MRs thoughts.
Fair play to all Cov fans who have made the trip. Deserve a medal
Think we will win 2-1.

We got another game before Saturday then?

Well done Robins, I was concerned he wouldn't make wholesale changes, is Grimmer the only starter from Saturday?

4-1 Walsall Agyei Hat trick but I couldn't care too much as long as we have 3 points in the back and are possibly top of the league by 2:20pm on Saturday!

People are putting way too much pressure on Ponticelli. He may turn out to be brilliant who knows, but the fact that MR won't even start him tonight shows that he's clearly not ready.

Saturday to Saturday would be 7 days is what he means when he says that...

So if he stuck with the same 11 again. It would have been 6 games in 14 days. Which is a lot of football. And a lot of the players were already looking leggy on Saturday.
