Hello City fans!

Just a quick question, we have been linked with 2 former City players. They are Stephen O'Halloran and Michael McIndoe recently.

Just wondering, what are your thoughts on these players?

Cheers in advance.

O'Halloran was pretty poor during his time here, but he was recovering from injury. McIndoe was average over the past two years and has only played a handful of games this season but he did get the assist in the home game against Leicester so there's still some quality there

McIndoe works hard, has a great cross but no pace. He wasn't treated the best at Cov and became a scapegoat for a few things but can be a bit of a knob too, however if you can get him then he would be excellent at that level.

O'Halorhan was hopeless here but had been dogged by injury and never had a full pre-season under him. He did come from Villa and with a reasonable reputation and promise. He's still young enough and again if he can stay fit would be very good I'm sure at level.

I think both will do well in League 1 for you, if you sign them.
O'Halloran came in last summer with a reputation at Villa, of being something that was close to the first team had it not been for injuries. He had a few games pre-season and then got injured, meaning he didn't play until December.
Decent player, but a bit suspect positionally. Likes to get up and down the line as much as possible.
McIndoe. A good player who will do well for you, but unfortunately for him, his legs have gone and he just can't cut it in the Championship anymore.
He's got a great engine and will always give everything and run himself into the ground. The only problem is that with his lack of pace, he struggles to get past his man to put crosses in.

So overall, O'Halloran has potential to fill but is a typical league 1 full back that strays out of position.

Julian Gray (who you guys may remember) is doing his old trick again of looking for another club in the summer, did it last year and failed so we re-signed him and now hes doing it again, just in the MLS. I cant wait to see the back of him the lazy git.

Gray is the lad who we are looking to replace. All we need is someone who can put in a good ball because with Macken and Grigg upfront, they can tuck it away with relative ease.

Pace isn't everything if you have positional awareness and can read the game, which McIndoe seems like he can!

Julian Gray is such a waster. I actually always thought he had ability but he showed it so infrequently that it was beyond frustrating. I think as Cov fans we have little expectation and can forgive most things, but the one unforgiveable trait is being lazy.

He has got talent, no doubt about that. He got 10 goals from the wing last term in a team that was really pretty poor.

If he had the enthusiasm as the likes of Macken, Cook (who was on loan from Sunderland), then he would still be in the Championship now. But as he is lazy, he wont get no higher than a league 1 club i'm afraid.

As you said yourself, Rob, Cov and Walsall fans alike cant stand lazy-ness.

We have had some players in the past, not the best quality, never going to set the league we are in alight, but because he gives 100% every match, Walsall fans wont criticise him.

Pretty much all you need to know about McIndoe. You know he'll always work his socks off but not a pacey sort of winger.

I didn't rate O'Halloran at all this year, got torn apart most the time, i really feared it when the opposition had a pacey right winger. Lets people past him far too easily. But as has been said, he was recovering from an injury, maybe he'd do better at full fitness.

Michael McIndoe's technique is superb, and he's got a good footballing brain. I think too many city fans gave him a hard time because he wasn't the speedy 'skin your fullback' left winger we all wanted. I think he'd do a good job for you at Walsall, much better than Julian 'bottler' Gray.

O'Halleran I'm not too sure on - didn't see him play that much, but when I did I wasn't impressed with his positional sense - looked out of his depth at this level, and is also very injury-prone.

They are both Premiership standard and an offer of around £5m for both would just about cover it. All cheques to be made payable to Skint & Skinter t/a SISU

McIndoe can show real signs of genius and can cross balls like Ginola on a good day, unfotunately he's inconsistent

McIndoe has alot of talent he just rarely shows it, hes lost his speed and is a shadow of himself from 5 years ago, we pritty much got him half way down his decline. For a club like Walsall i think someone like O'Halleron would be to much of a risk, slow decline down the leagues for him i feel.

Completely agree, he had the talent but was always on his terms. Always remember Scunthorpe away, we got murdered by the newly promoted team. He was one of the poorest players on the park, jumped once to get a ball and straight away he pulled out of it by ducking.

McIndoe will probably do well for you if you get him, as for O'Halleron i think i only ever saw him play once so i can't comment.

O'Halloran did well in L1 & L2 on loan a few years back. Along with being one of Villa reserves 2nd-place sides best players. The Villa fans who watch the reerves on their forums all said he was awesome going forwards but dodgy defensively, and many were sad to see him go. I saw the odd bit going forwards, but he looked like he was no-way near fit enough to do what he used to-seemed a yard off the pace a lot of the time. If he can stay fit and get games, he should be able to re-build at L1 level.

Where the hell has this illusion came from that Mcindoe has talent, 1 goal in nearly 50 appearances is bad for a winger and I can probably count the number of good crosses on one hand
Both players are not good enough for this league not sure about league 1

I went to watch Walsall play Sheffield Wed near the end of this season. What i saw of that was, your only decent player was Jon Macken. So mcindoe and o'halloran would walk into your team. They both aren't bad players but not championship class. I think o'halloran could turn into a good player in the future if he stays fit

McIndoe is still a very good player but as said above was never given a chance by some fans. He works hard and crosses the ball well. Sadly he lacks pace now

I accept that you're all as entitled to your opinion as I am mine. Yours is equally valid and I also realise that me shouting louder doesn't make me right, but ... I seriously wonder if some of you go to games at all. Surely even his harshest critics can see MM has ability?

The cross in the second half alone (was it Leicester ore Palace? Just after half time) was an excellent demonstration of that. He was frozen out under AB when there were times we were crying out for him and his industry. 1-0 up late on and there were a few occasions I discussed with those around me how I would take Sheff off and replace him with MM beause he works back harder. Ok that's not what you look for in a wide man and looks negative, but he was always a wide midfielder as opposed to the winger some thought we were getting and there is a vast difference. I actually think if he was in contract then he could have flourished under our current system, although I do agree that at the ennd of the deal it is probably right to move him on and free up some wages. In fact good that him and SO'H go as a package because I'm sure he will cover some of the defensive frailties whilst the reverse is also true with the overlap.

Forgot to add that there were some of those 1-0 up occasions when comments were vindicated after conceding. I wasn't happy to be right and didn't want the "I told you so" moment, but wanted AB to have recognised it too. It may of course still have happened and is just another one to consign to the 'what if?' box, but I would like to have seen it.

I think Mcindoe still has something to offer and would do well at Walsall, i think people's expectations of him were way too high at the start. I think under CC he had the highest assists didn't he?? He would be a good buy for Walsall and much better than that twat Gray.

O'Halloran, i think will get better but needs to be playing regularly and needs to learn some hard lessons. He exposed us alot at the back but so has Keogh at times. You better have a hard working left midfielder that can support him, he does have some pace and a good work rate in my book.

Mcindoe always ran like he had plastic Knees that could snap at any moment. The only thing I remember him doing was crossing for platt to score against Leicester last season. I personally never saw any great talent really. Perhaps the problem with him was that he destroyed us with Bristol City at the ricoh on at least two occasions and I think because of that expectations on his arrival to us were way to high? We never saw anything close to what he produced in a Bristol shirt.

People have the opinion that all wingers should have pace and run at wingers at every chance they get.

McIndoe was a good winger and his distribution was top draw. He'd be excellent in league 1.

My complaint with McIndoe was his unwillingness to take his man on, but he could cross if had enough time.
