Exactly right Ring of Steel - I believe then headed to Florida.Didn’t he become a physiotherapist in Cov after he had to retire?
Brian Borrows was hugely underrated. Thought he was good enough to play for England
Now you've edited it I look even more of a dickInjured far too early in his career, but I loved Graham Oakey ( the lad was brilliant)
Respectfully disagree on Borrows v Nilsson, but I think that’s a great point about Phillips. He did actually play there a few times, most notably of course the Cup FinalI didn’t see Thomas play but did meet him after a game in a restaurant once and he was very nice.
Nillson was better than Borrows (who was one of the worst crossers of ball that I have ever seen).
David Phillips would have been a brilliant modern type full back.
He’d have been some player had he not suffered that injuryGraham Oakey closely followed by Brian Borrows
Nilsson was class certainly the best right back I've seen for us even at 33 , Brian Burrows was also goodWhat are the options again?

Oh I forgot about Danny Thomas a fine player .Graham oakey would be 2nd to Nilsson
Danny thomas 3rd
Bryan Borrows 4th
I have to go with Brian Borrows. That’s not to run Nilsson down but Borrows could do it all, he oozed class & could score great goals sometimes too. With a touch more pace, had he been at a “bigger” club, and dare I say it had he have had more ruthless ambition, I think he’d have had a shot at playing for England.
I remember him being well into his 30s v Forest in ‘95 & Collymore was scoring for fun & was full of hype, Borrows played at centre half and never gave Collymore a sniff, he was just class.
Only player I ever saw get the better of him was, randomly enough, Ian Ormondroyd at Villa when they beat us 4-1 in 1990.
He’s my favourite ever City player, could go on for ages about him- but for me he beats Nilsson, also for longevity of course. Let Wednesday have Nilsson, we can have Bugsy
Borrows was so unlucky never to get an England cap.Bugsy also scored an absolute belter against Villa at Villa Park the following season - curled all over the place as if a Brazilian had hit it
Awesome strike
0.45 for Bugsys goal
Always the same. What are the options again?

Me? Neilson. Finchy? Neilson. Gareth? Neilson sometimes Burrows.Different times called for different players Mick Coop, Borrows, Nielson, MVE ?
Mick Coop, Scooper ManAlways the same.

different players for different… needs
I remember that incident, watched it again recently on YouTube.Remember when Mick Coop coolly carried on playing after everyone stopped. Clive Allen had just scored that perfectly good goal unseen by only the ref.
Great strike by Allen wasn't it.I remember that incident, watched it again recently on YouTube.
Yes it was a brilliant shot and " goal".Great strike by Allen wasn't it.
