Wasps downward spiral... (7 Viewers)

Yes lots ! …… many friends who don’t go to Coventry …..

Like this one?

My husband and I take enormous pleasure in supporting Wasps and have been going to Adams Park as season ticket holders for the past eleven years. We will not be able to travel to Coventry or any where too distant. After being devoted supporters we feel we deserve better. However, I think we are not alone and Wasps will lose their supporters in droves.

Or this one?

My Grandad used to take me to see Wasps play at Sudbury. While I didn’t like the fact that Wasps were moved to High Wycombe, I accepted that this would be a temporary move with a view of moving back to London. However I’m distraught to find out that my club will taken away from me again and moved to somewhere that’s completely inaccessible for the vast majority of Wasps’ supporter base. It might be argued that this is to ensure the long-term stability of the club, however if the club makes this move it will be dead to me and so any long term survival of the club would be an irrelevance. Please don’t move my club.

I tell you what …… put them all in one post and I’ll read them all together in the morning….. . much easier. 😉

I think it is a lot easier to drop a comment in from a wasp fan after you have posted something.

Like this one for instance.

Been watching wasps since they were at Sudbury. This would be a total betrayal of the fans. It was bad enough when they went to wycombe!

Wasps finances - 📉
Interest in Wasps - 📉
Likelihood of Wasps being here long term - 📉
Number of free tickets given out - 📉
Attendances - 📉
Drunken Wasps' projection - 📈

Before the break we asked which popular rugby club was set to go pop without a public bailout.

If you answered ‘London Wasps’, you were wrong-they were never popular.

Here's another wasps supporter you are treating with some disdain.

I have been a Wasps supporter since 1985 and have followed them through thick an thin both in London at our home in Sudbury, North London and then at Loftus Road in West London and the farther afield at Adams Park. Wasps' supporters are a devoted set of people who have had to endure the club minutes away from going out of business and their loyalty will be stretched to breaking point if Wasps move to the Ricoh. I for one will certainly not be renewing my season ticket if this happens!

Not so sure it’s me that’s biting …… one post and you all come out the woodwork to jump. Hilarious.

Look if I thought you would lose your sense of humour I would never have made the joke.

It was intended as light hearted but obviously touched a nerve. I did think you were above that.

I’ve engaged with you several times recently so I would hardly say it was jumping out of the woodwork, but if it fits your narrative then go for it.

There's an interesting post on the Premiership Rugby site about this seasons viewing figures. It is of course presented as everything is fantastic & record viewing figures but scratch the surface and its a very different story and just shows yet again that any notion of some huge expansion in popularity is wishful thinking.

The main boast is that the final got record viewing figures, more than double the previous best. However that is only 946K and of course the reason for the increase is that for the first time it was free to air on ITV. By comparison the FA Cup Final, a competition we're often told has lost its magic, got 9.1m.

The rugby equivalent of MOTD, which is shown on ITV, got 3.2m viewers. That's not the average per show, that's total viewers across the entire season.

I was generalising wasn’t actually aimed at you personally ….. didn’t hit a nerve …. I was just bored with the repeated dull posts about Wasps complaints which have never been denied.

Im not sure what your point is …. Are premiership rugby saying it’s better supported than football ? I don’t think they are …. They are comparing rugby with rugby. If you compare any facts and figures between the two sports they will always be poles apart, whether that’s participation, support, viewing, salaries etc etc. …. I don’t think anyone has ever said otherwise.

The point is that rugby has followed the football model in trying to chase broadcasting rights to increase revenue but the interest isn't there so it doesn't look sustainable.

The clubs sold a huge chunk of their revenue for a one off payment to a firm whose whole deal is increasing revenue through media right but the market isn't there.

This would be a worry for any club but for Wasps who are massively over leveraged it's another in a long line of warning signs that without a significant change in the business model there is no future.

Well league is a better spectacle than union so even there it's a losing argument

They don't bore me. Just giving a voice to wasp fans. Like this one below.

I have been proud to be a Wasp for over 20 years Wasps has always acted with great honour and friendship. It has represented the thoroughly decent rugby folk of West London and Wycombe and far flung parts for nearly 150 years. Such a thing is very easy to kill off but impossible to replace. A move to Coventry is an insult to all Wasps.

Not sure they are following the exact model as they are chalk and cheese on numbers and revenue. Nothing wrong in chasing broadcast rights however popular a sport is, that comes with growth and changes in viewing technology / platforms. I think you have to separate how PRL run the league and how clubs are run. Much the same in football.

Here is another dull post from a wasps supporter.

Moving the club I have loved since 1996 is disgusting. I have followed the club all over uk and Europe year on year... me and my family wont be trecking to Cov for a HOME game! I will support a new local club who cares about the fans!

I think we were talking about this long before Simon raised his head, and you were sent by the pests on a fishing expedition.

The Wasps forum is exceedingly poor, aside from the likes of your good self, why would anyone post on there.

I have a pseudonym on there, Wasps fans seem to like me, I raise valid criticisms about your club and the move, but because I haven't linked myself to CCFC your lot don't seem to froth and act objectively. Its amazing that if you think I'm not a CCFC fan you can take the criticism of what a complete basket case your club really is.
So, is Moff your pseudo pseudonym?
