What would actually need paying for on a match day that we don't already pay for? We already pay everyone on the CCFC side obviously, and we pay for stewards and policing. We supply ground staff, although there is also ground staff employed by ACL I'm sure we could manage without them. The f&b is all outsourced and if the currently providers don't want to do it we can have a match with the food outlets shut (just put a few burger vans outside) and get Dhillons to run the bars.
What's left? I guess hospitality but I'm sure if you said to those booked we'll refund / move you most would be OK with it and realise getting the game on is the priority. What else is ACLs responsibility on a match day? Only thing that comes to mind is the electric bill. Surely we could pick that up if needed.
Think insurance is a bit of a red herring. The building itself needs to be insurance by someone, either ACL, the administrator or CCC. Event insurance isn't hard to get, in this case there would be a pre-existing agreement so all we'd need to do is phone up the insurance company and say we'll pay on a game by game basis until this is resolved.
None of this is ideal but if we have to 'make do' for a couple of games that has to be better than playing elsewhere.
I think the insurance thing is an issue tbh.
I can imagine an underwriter asking the question:
“So, this arena. You paid £15-£20m for it, suggest that it requires £20m for repairs,
That doesn’t sound very safe.
And, you have borrowed £35m against it and want to insure it at the rebuild cost of (total guess) £100m?
Have you paid the security firm? Will it be monitored?
Is it occupied?
And you are in administration?
You’ve got no money?
And you don’t need it anymore because the Rugby Club you had had gone pop?
I see.
And if it did burn down all your problems would be solved?
Right….”
(Satire but you get the picture, insurance won’t be easy)
