I guess the best bet is close to as possible - Cardiff's for example, isn't really *in* the city, but is close enough to the old ground and an 'old' area to feel like it belongs there. I'd (personally!) get a similar feeling about Warwick Uni. Still not perfect, would still rather we were back at HR (or how about we bulldoze Pool Meadow and surroundings...?) but still better than where we are as far as I'm concerned, but am not going to put up a massive fight about location in that respect.

However, and maybe most importantly, it's be more convenient for the Leamington and Warwick fans and supporters.

You must like walking NW. the Uni area is a nonsense place for a stadium. Traffic would be an absolute nightmare.

used to have an office close by about 30 years ago, and leaving when the uni was coming out was a total no no. The uni has grown since then, so will be much worse now.

you must be thinking it will be just you attending.

Wouldn't be going there when the uni was coming out, though.

Have a look through the thread, plenty of people saying it's a pretty common thing in the UK and will be sorted by the time we need to be able to make transfers.

Feel free to point out where I said our finances are rosey though.

That is true.

Bottom line is that any interest penalties from HMRC can be less than going over overdraft penalties so some use TTP as a flexible cash flow from time to time.

They spin it as securing the stadiums future and him bringing jobs to Coventry. Maybe it does in all fairness. The fact they get to screw Sisu over in the process is a nice added bonus for those with personal grudges.

Can’t be arsed with the ‘it won’t happen’ etc.
But whenever people mention the traffic issue from experience around Warwick Uni they always forget this.

Don’t know where you live but think of what is your most leafy, sedate area with plenty of large and million pound houses there and only a couple of access roads to it that sums up most of the Uni area can you really see any chance of a 25k+ stadium being allowed to be built there, I know locals there complain now about the continued expansion of the university now, compare that to where the CBS is in an industrial area with decent road and motorway systems.
Leaving HR was a terrible mistake but we now have what we have there might be one or two areas more central than the Uni that could be used but probably never will.

I live on the outskirts of Pompey (what on earth).

Yep, get that's unlikely and we shouldn't have left HR etc etc. Just wondered why there seems to be a hatred of the Arenas location but less angst at a stadium at Warwick Uni when to me, it seems just as inconvenient. I obviously have never lived in Cov though and don't know the areas that well, hence the intrigue.

Looks like they employed 66 people (including directors) in 2020.

Is Ashley going to come in and leave them all in place? You would assume new directors and management.

Him, Gilbert and others almost talk as if Ashley sneaked round the back door (so to speak) to get a deal stitched up before anyone else could move. Everyone knew what was happening and had every opportunity. If they didn’t progress interest it’s either they didn’t have the cash, weren’t interested or are clueless

Loads of whataboutery on here now

Facts are

Ashley is probably going to get the stadium. Doesn't want us.

Sisu have again fucked it by trying to be too cute even though they actually had some added investment from a partner ready to go.

Council have been nudging things in the direction they want. If people don think they aere ACL's string puller I don't know what to say

So as it stands we will still be tenants, still at the whim of a knobhead stadium owner and still run by shitcunts wihtout a pot to piss in and wont invest a penny, not even to pay for a pitch or tax bill.

Best we can hope for under this is a Peterborough/ Rotherham style yoyo L1 CHampionship club

Nah, can't see that myself. I know you have a "source", but unless he actually sits in the room of negotiation himself, then HE is hearing it second-hand from someone else. That's how the Chinese whispers start. Gilbert is guilty of it too, saying SISU and Ashley haven't been in contact. How do we know?

At the very worst Ashley could turn us into a Norwich type yo-yo team. As an owner of the football club, getting your team into the Premiership is literally worth hundreds of millions. Who wouldn't want a slice of that? Ashley is an astute businessman and I'm sure he will have one eye on owning us at some point in the future. Would seem odd not to. Only SISU stand in his way. I'm sure he has dealt with worse.

I think there is planned to be a new road circling the west of Coventry (basically from the Balsall Common area to that junction they are improving on the A46).

But in IMO a new stadium out by the Uni would feel even less connected to the urban areas of the city than the CBS, and I’m guessing would be a cheap Lego affair with a lower capacity.

Anyway Coventry doesn’t need two big sports stadiums, and Sisu know it.

And also that wherever a stadium ends up (ha!) would need road / transport upgrades as a matter of course. What kind of nutters would have transport capacity for a football stadium already in place without a football stadium there!

Leaves it open for Ashley to have a nice large warehousing operation whenever we move out, then. No need to do any of that £13mil of repairs either if we're moving out.

This is why I can’t believe Ashley isn’t interested. We’re allegedly leaving in 8 years time.

If we do - what’s the point of the arena? Seems a bigger gamble than Ashley is usually known for

Live over in Balsall so much easier for me! Thought it was a bypass that dropped back to the standard roads before Kenilworth but would be delighted to be proved wrong as would help with the commute .

They have 3 directors who will most likely go but other than that it's just ordinary staff, Ashley is not going to get rid of them is he? Who will run the place?

Though that would surely apply to anybody really so perhaps there are other reasons for the council 'preference'?

I doubt anybody would go in and sack every member of staff.

Although as they are now in Administration you never know.

What just about nobody doubts, whether you think it's a good idea or not, is Ashley's ability to complete a purchase should he want to.

So it's not exactly a shock that he ends up as preferred bidder.

Nothing wrong here. Ashley made a bid for pre-pack which others could do. He has more money than everyone else. So everyone will have to wait and see if this goes into full admin if Ashley doesn’t complete the deal. Unlikely though.

Fine by me. Wasps' crowds were shit in the Premier league (or whatever it's called), they'll be even more shit in the Championship. Can see them leaving or folding within a couple of years of playing here again.

Think the plans to extend the road to either the A45 or A452 attracted opposition, and may have been dropped or deferred? Anyway, accessibility of the Uni area from the A46 is still on cards.

My hunch is Wasps will be playing at the CBS and that is why Ashley has got preferred bidder status. I think he has done a deal with Richardson and co already.

Just my opinion of course.

Someone's been dicking about with the Large Hadron Collider Torch as this is the first time I think I've ever disagreed with you.

At first I thought I'd be fine with it. The fact that they're not our landlords is crucial for me.

That said, there's still pitch issues with them using it as well, there's still the fact the Cov already have a decent rugby side and there's still the fact that the parasite w*&nkers should never have been here in the first place.

Oh, and that the council would still have them to fawn over and lap up is another reason that upon reflection, I wouldn't be fine with it.
