Just remember people said it was a conspiracy when I said the trust were working with wasps with Hoffman...

Well if Richardson ends up with everything back in his hands and the debt wiped, all the internet points are yours

Not sure about everything back.

Still got his fingers in pies.

Well your prediction before that he and Wasps would get back in free of the debt. He is probably trying to scramble back whatever he can from the sale.

I don’t see why Ashley would keep him.

Can somebody explain this match funding quote. What would it entail and how much would it cost
It's not a quote attributed to anybody, the article just vaguely says 'The Hottinger package involved match-funding from Coventry City Council'. Does it mean CCC would match the investment funding, or is it about funding of matches? Either way, surely not something that would get through.

Pudsey aka Wasps Kit Man keeps tweeting hints that something is going on.

Here’s another one. The more I think about it the more I think Ashley and Richardson are working together and that Wasps will still be at the CBS moving forward. I’m praying they’re not.

The fact that SISU are so quiet is a positive thing in my, albeit possibly naive, view.
Ashley is not stupid enough to think Wasps will work in Coventry.
Fcuk knows what CCC are thinking dont think they do.
A cleverly crafted FOI request might tease out contact between CCC and other key players in this game! That said ex Chief Exec at a Council I worked for never emailed or wrote anything down to avoid FOI.

So...

The leader of the council states categorically, in a public meeting, and to the press, that the council is not having discussions about bailing out Wasps.

At the same time the most senior officer in the council is actively telling Wasps and a potential investor that they will match-fund to rescue Wasps to the tune of £30m of public money.

There is absolutely no way that Duggins did not know this was in play. Can anyone here seriously believe that Reeves would propose this without checking with the leadership of the Council?

£30m? No one in public office would be authorised to make those kind of offers unilaterally.

This, of course, isn't the first time that this council and its officers have been caught in a complete lie regarding ACL and Wasps.

They are rotten to the very core and have to be relieved of office as soon as possible.

Good to see this getting such widespread coverage from CWR & Cov Telegraph. Not.

F&@k the advertising revenues. This is now a matter of public interest. Officials, elected or otherwise now need to held to account.

In public sector funding terms it means they'll match the investment

This is what I said before and what I fully expect to happen.

He needs to calm his out down fast as he is hinting at things more on Hope then fact.

If I was paying his salary I’d ask him to stop tweeting stuff and raising hopes up.

Wasps are finished in Coventry.

I don’t think they are somehow.

If Ashley ends up with the Arena, he will look at the endeavour from a commercial viewpoint and, unfortunately, the added advertising and merchandising aspect will come into play.

That Richardson is still involved and the seemingly duplicitous noises coming from CCC add weight to that.

This current state of affairs hasn’t been what it seems at so many levels.

Gilbert could do worse than write a book about this period when the dust settles.

Has anyone considered that Wasps may be looking to ground share with Cov Rugby? Whilst unthinkable a couple of seasons ago, a lot of clubs may be looking to consolidate given the financial state of their game, it wouldn‘t surprise me if they attempted to play the ‘rugby family’ card. There could be a clash of fixtures, but that’s not insurmountable.

Really cant see wasps entertaining the thought of 'slumming it' at the Butts.
They have delusions of grandeur, and think they're so much better than Cov RFC and their small ground.

People often predict that the law of averages will stop us winning 4 or 5 games in a row. Yet the same logic apparently doesn’t extend to the football club ever being rid of its owners or perhaps at last being united with whoever also owns the stadium. It clearly also doesn’t stop Wasps getting white knighted

They could do that and eventually merge into one club. That would be fantastic.

So Wasps rugby club and Coventry. They could keep the "Rugby and Club" parts of the name and we would keep the Coventry bit, so it would then just become Coventry Rugby Club.

Cov would obviously keep the traditional colours of the city, because this is Coventry, but as a compromise, we will keep using a black font for Wasps' benefit.

Job done.

Ashley will do whatever is best for Ashley, he might have shaken hands on some sort of benefit for Richardson we will perhaps never know thought I read this week that Richardson has walked away from Wasps to a degree or have i.

Can't see any upside for Cov Rugby. They'd be competing for finite resources in an already small market.

No dirty yellow anywhere though. Not having that!

I would think that a major part of Richardson rejecting the proposal was that there was no way of him getting anything back.

Even putting the ccc involvement aside, that proposal just kicked the same problem down the road. It seems to me it solved nothing.

Would also think that certainly up until administration every proposal would need to include wasps staying because that way Richardson kept wasps and kept control of the assets that gave prospect of his debt recovery
