rugby fans who dont usually see top class rugby played in the city can now get their fix of Premiership action.
Agreed. Lets hope that a Prem League football team move to Cov soon as well so we can get our fix of premiership action
A lot of posters seem to be happy with it because it spites SISU. What they forget is that it will have a severe effect on the club in the long-term, especially as sisu won't be here forever...also, who is going to want to buy a league 1 club paying rent to a franchise rugby club? We have the most apathetic fans and the worst owners in the country. There is no way Leeds or Pompey fans would have put up with sisu, ccc and Wasps.
To answer the OP question then yes it's good for Coventry if WASP are here and CCFC are here. The problem is one of those needs far more money to sustain it than the other, they need their own stadium and income streams not just a rental pitch deal.
If CCFC could gets their hands on income from the stadium 365 days a year then it may have a future there but even then you would expect them to up sticks and build elsewhere when they needed it, such as returning to the premiership. They won't want to share the bonanza of premier leagues receipts with WASP will they? As I said elsewhere the council did not give due thought to the process did they?
Surely with PL crowds of 25,000 and tv revenues it won't matter that Wasps are taking most the ACL profits ?
Really? Swansea's turnovers the other season was £67m of which £6m revenues generated from the stadium. Do you think taking 10% from a business wouldn't matter or affect it?

Where did you get the £6M figure From?
Last year they made £75m from the playing side alone , quick internet search show that they made the biggest profit, another quick search puts them in the top 50 richest clubs. But in an article for the local press they said.
Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins said in September that Swansea were "miles behind" most of their rivals in terms of commercial income
"One of the big things we need to do if we are to develop as a club, and try our best to compete with the best teams, is find a way of growing commercially," Jenkins told the South Wales Evening Post
" At the moment, the income levels we have are basically just linked to the football side of things - television revenue and that sort of thing
"The only other way we have got to bring money in is trading players.
"They are the only tools we can use to make money, so the commercial aspect is something we have to look at.
"We have to find ways of bringing in extra income
Not bad for a club that does not own its own ground and shares with a rugby team that screw the pitch so much that it forces Swansea City to play Hoof Ball.

The council did not give due thought to the process? Sorry? If SISU needed the incomes you refer to, they should have bought them candidly; instead of the pantomime of distressing ACL and their fruitless and costly litigation
Had they been offered at the same price that Wasps got them for I imagine they would have bought them a long time ago.

Ah the good old council, its a good job they love the club otherwise we'd be truly fucked.
Or that they are all full of shit? Some of them say they do love CCFC
E.g. Mutton and Lucas ( both council leaders ) and we are still fucked. Leads me to think that the owners may have more to do with our demise than ex landlords.
Or that they are all full of shit?
Or that they are all full of shit?
Yep. Both have spent years going to matches for no reason.
You might not like the decisions they've made but you of all people have no right to question someone's loyalty as a fan, and that includes council leaders.
The fact is that there are very few people that can have an influence on a football team directly with their actions. The fact is that these two, along with SISU, Hoffman, Elliott, McGinnity, Richardson and every other cronie around on their respective watches have failed the club.

So they can't be full of shit and go to football matches?
It always does touch a nerve with some when you say anything bad (well saying they are full of shit isn't that bad is it?)
Your saying they are full of shit in response to the comment that they are both city fans.
Unless you have become a believer in the "superfan" class of city supporter then you shouldnt really question their status of being a fan.
Nothing wrong with questioning the decisions any fan takes (including council leaders) but to question whether someone is a "real fan" or not is wrong.
No, I am a believer in that they are full of shit in general. I don't doubt they are fans of CCFC, but I do believe they over egged it for PR before fucking the club over with the "we stand on the terraces next to you, we live next door to you in the street" bollocks.
Don't get me wrong, SISU have also screwed the club. They haven't been gushing about how much they love it though just before doing it.
I have never Met Lucas, but I have had dealings with Mutton. He seemed passionate about CCFC and had no reason to put on an act about that in our conversation. So, I would say that it is an incredible achievement by SISU ( in the negative Sense ) to turn the council into supporters of a Wycombe based Rugby Club. I don't think Mutton even new what Wasps Rugby was when I met him. Now we're getting a bloody great Wasp on our stadium. Yes. I am angry, but mainly with the owners who have steered us up shit creek and seem to have forgotten the paddle.
