I doubt there is any Truth in this what is true is wasps have a major problems on the pitch losing at home to London Irish is pretty much a disaster as Irish will almost certainly be in the bottom 3 this season so wasps prospects look pretty grim

If the owner wanted out, and its been said Wasps is taking up a ever increasing amount of his personal wealth at a rate he can't sustain, would it make sense to sell the stadium separately to the club?

Also, lets say SISU moved us to an empty ground in Bury, not unreasonable to think that when they eventually sell up the new owner might want to move us back to Coventry.

Not saying there's anything in the rumours, would be very surprised if its true, but I'm also not convinced that a club that was willing to move halfway across the country is a certainly to stay in the city forever.

I didn't mean to. I just thought bit sounded like the logical thing for them to do; they're losing money so they can sell the Ricoh to pay the debts, move to Buckinghamshire which is much more of their area, and play in a ground whose seats are much closer to their own colours. Must have been bellowing this theory in the pub too loudly and someone's taken it seriously.

A bit like when Alan Partridge inadvertently led a newspaper to report that the Queen had died.

Actually because of how they allocate the areas to the premiership teams the wasps academy operates both in Coventry and Oxford. The Oxford site deals with the southern part of the area wasps have. Broad street covers Warwickshire. I think there might be a third site too.

Can’t see them moving either, I think they will one day just go bump and be liquidated following Rugby Lions, London Welsh, and the like and end up as an amateur side back in London. Surely if (when) the Ricoh Project fails they will not try the same franchising elsewhere as they know it’s not viable.

Hummm I’m not sure your right on this one but stand corrected. I was told it’s just the first team training on the one pitch, changing in temporary changing rooms and eating in the pub. Broad street have a few teams as well training so not sure how they can fit wasps academy as well? I stand corrected but just saying what I was told...

Yep, they have a 'facility' at Broad Street (if you can call portacabins a facility).

After they gave up on having it in Coventry, despite the promises of a new state of the art facility open to the public when they arrived, it was supposed to be in Leamington piggy backing off another rugby club but I don't think they've even put in for planning permission.

Speaking of planning don't think they've made any progress with the hotel on car park c or the housing by Higgs - appreciate that's the owner not Wasps themselves but all adds to a picture that something isn't quite right.

All the while SISU are constantly hammered for not building a new stadium while w**ps go unchallenged in their lies.

Gosh, if ONLY there was some kind of local sporting team that might be willing and able to rent/buy the empty ricoh stadium in the event of wasps vacating it.

that wont be happening, it was a fear 3-5 years ago when they were playing matches there but since they have built the new stand at franklin gardens and cant fill the stadium as is there is no requirement to move them to MK as they can hold all the European games at home now should they ever make the quarter finals again

...and in any way, regardless of the Wasps precedent, I don't think their move can be considered a success (yet if ever)

Just going off their academy twitter page and other things really. They have academy fixtures in Coventry (KHV111 playing fields) and Oxford, they also employ staff at both sites (job advert for academy physio based at Broadstreet in May this year) and a coach at Oxford at around the same date.

This is where the Southern academy used to be Wasps relocate southern academy side to Dry Leas It has since moved to here Wasps AASE programme to move to Activate Learning’s City of Oxford College | Activate Learning . it does talk of moving main academy to Oxford though but i think that is the southern academy. Wasps have a huge area to cover Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Warwickshire and have invested in those areas, it doesn't make sense to me to write off the Warwickshire area. Their community foundation has in 2015 through to 2018 invested 1.4m in projects funded by wasps holdings, that you would think includes stuff in Warwickshire. There is a huge amount of space at Broadstreet. At the moment it looks like two sites to me. Could of course be wrong and they could change it.

I think wasps moving again would be very costly. They have invested a lot of money in promoting their brand in this area (by area i mean more than just Coventry), not only in rugby but also netball and community projects, they would need to repeat that investment over several years. Also they have invested in other Coventry projects, why do that if the intention is to get away. The rugby team have a 50 year agreement with ACL as i understand it so there would need to be some rearranging there. They will have paid out player moving costs when they moved here and moving back would be even more expensive. They would need to find training facilities and land is more costly as are the building costs and of course the planning timing could be a problem. They would not be masters of the new site so would not get much of the other incomes that the Ricoh generates, which would have impact on future cash flows & "profitability". How much would the new rent at another stadium be? it could easily be more than the current rent that in effect stays within the wasps holdings group, the new rent would be cashflow leaving the group. Would they be allowed to move again? They would have to sell the stadium to a sports team, but could you see SISU/CCFC paying their asking price because if they dont it would be hard to see wasps affording to move. The property is charged against the bond with an early redemption bonus so the minimum needed to clear the bond is currently £35m x 105.36% = £36.876m that comes out of any funds they may receive, it also sets a minimum sale price. There may be tax implications on the disposal that would need to be paid. All these items add up to a lot of additional cost. I just dont see a move happening
