Nigel Adkins has reminded his Saints players that their destiny in still in their own hands.

Saints missed out on the chance to win promotion to the Premier League as they were beaten 2-1 at Middlesbrough, a defeat that also surrendered the Championship trophy to Reading.

West Ham need to beat Leicester on Monday for Saints to have to worry about the final day of the season, but even if the Hammers do their bit Adkins knows victory over Coventry at St Mary’s will secure second spot irrespective of results elsewhere.

“We know what we’ve got to do,” said the Saints boss.

“We’ve got Coventry at home, there will 32,000 people roaring the Saints on and we’ve got to win it.

“If we win it we get promoted to the Premier League and that’s all our focus has got to be.”
Got a bad feeling about next week. Not feeling particularly happy now of course, but I can see us being hammered out of this league at St. Marys.

If WHU beat Incester on Monday they will need the 3 points to guarantee promotion, so in that situation they'll be up for it. If WHU draw or lose they can't catch Soton.

But if the team lays down and lets them walk all over us that will not be a good sign for next season. A bad situation getting worse.
