pompey-scunny is already off and the chances are another 3-4 matches will prob go too

if this happens cov have a great chance of getting in top 6 saturday with a win

i think psychologically it would be a big step forward and puts pressure on playoff contenders to win their games in hand

we must push on now and around mid march look to consolidate ourselves in top 6 permanently

but for now im hoping most games are called off bar ours as i think a fleeting appearnce in top 6 will give the squad confidence

I'm confident they could get the game on.

Question is do I wan them to, as I'm sure a lot of ppl won't be able to get there!

also means fixture congestion for other clubs in the next couple of months....

This, very good point that man. If this weather keeps up for another week Like there saying and more fixtures get called off a lot of clubs will be playing a lot of games in a short period of time, possibly the only time the Ricoh and its undersoil heating has played in our favour !

the pitch will be shite with all the snow thats fell upon it, i think the game would become a lottery and could cause us problems playing against the airball team of Oldham

I think the game will be on we can deal with conditions like this had the same last season similar. Don't really want ours to get cancelled as we already trying to fit games in with the cup run

game wont be on people. this is the day and age of health and safety. can you imagine if you were organising an event where 5000-10000 people are due to attend, held outdoors, having to make their way in this?

A) if anything happened, people would go crazy at the club and blame them for the 'stupid decision' or 'accident waiting to happen'. You wouldnt put it past anyone to sue the club if something did happen to them, either on their way or at the ground
B) If they played it in this, crowd would dwindle. Club doesnt want the crowd to dwindle. means less money.
C) Doesnt exactly look like this snow is letting up anytime soon
D) it could actually be possible the pitch is genuinely unplayable

I hope it is called off. as someone said before - this weather would suit them more then us. We have already played 2 more games then MK Dons insixth - if we win and go into the playoffs, its going to be on the back of teams around us having alot of games in hand, if we lose, we dont make any ground and still the teams around us have more games in hand.

Negatives massively outway the positives, in comparison of playing this game on a decent pitch

I think it's one of them games that if its on with the conditions being so bad it could be anyone's game. It could be that we are better off not playing as losing another game when no one else played would be a massive backwards step.

I want to be on! everyone must surely remember the 5-1 victory against blackburn with the orange ball, i'm sure david rennie scored that day as well!!!!:p:p:p

I remember it well and Rennie did score. It was too cold for Blackburn that day, even Shearer played like an old woman. Don't get me wrong if we win happy days but our home form is such that this game looks like a fuck up waiting to happen.

Nuddy was unplayable In those icy conditions ! Watched that game with a friend from Blackburn who said lars bohimen went off at half time as he was colour blind and could hardly pick the orange ball out !

As I said in another post, the ground will be fine, but the police/council my tell the club the game cannot go ahead because of the conditions in the surrounding areas....

I spoke to the ticket office about half and hour ago. They have been out to look at the pitch and it is already completely covered despite the heating system bring on, the snow is gathering more quickly than the undersoil heating can clear it.

All the gangways and stairwells are snow covered too, they said unless they get volunteers in there clearing all these areas there's no way the game will go ahead.

Lovely state the pitch will be in if the drainage isn't top notch.

yeh i do worry the pitch will suit oldham and not us

Lets not look too much into it, do you remember the CCFC v Norwich game? Where we were the 'bully boys' and Norwich the ticky tacky passing team, they won, the better team on the day will win.

If our game is on and we win we're guaranteed to rise to 7th in the League as only Bournemouth (in our reach) are playing. If they lose we'll be in the playoffs albeit having played 3 games more than some teams.... Must take the chance against an inferior team...

They already have games in hand on us they don't need anymore. As long as we win as many games as possible so about 15-16 then we can say we did our best and we will likely get the play offs anyway but of teams have 3 games in hand then that is not good as they IMO won't have to much pressure to win once in 2-3 games in hand

This will be our 4th game in 9 days......maybe better to give the players a rest.

But on the other hand we are playing Oldham. We are 13 points and 21 goals above them. They have won 3 drawn 3 and lost 8 away from home so far.

But on the other hand we are beating the top teams and losing to the bottom teams

But on the other hand it would be a great boost to be in the top 6 with winter here.

Can't make my mind up at all :D

Fatigue was quite clearly an issue last Sunday against Carlisle.

Tough one though. Do want games coming thick and fast now, or face a backlog of fixtures later.

Win 15-16 of our remaining 18 games? We've only won 11 in 28 so far

11 wins and a few draws will get us in the playoffs. 16 wins and we would win the league.

Yep.

Easy peasey! :whistle:Especially with our immaculate home form.

18 games left. I reckon we can possibly win 10 of those perhaps. That would be fantastic. More likely to be a little less though.

Even 8 wins, 6 draws and just 4 defeats would be excellent.

Di Canio's desperate to get Swindon's game on to avoid a fixture backlog later - and they don't have the JPT to look forward to!
(Though they have played 2 league games less than us so I guess that kind of evens out)

11 wins should hopefully secure playoffs.

All season we have talked about how there was still time but now its gotten to must win time IMO

If we can't do Oldham at home there's not much chance of us grabbing 11 wins from 18

10 wins from 17 starts to look doable tho!
