We need a new striker (1 Viewer)

Although I think Cody may score a few goals this year he does seem to miss a few. With the chances he has had we could have won all 3 games. We need someone with a better conversion rate if we are to succeed.

Well he has 2 in 5 so far and hasnt even had a great start... Imagine what he'll be like 10 or so games in when he's used to playing week In week out

Problem is they cost loads of money, cody is the best finisher we are gonna get. Can see him scoring 20 plus this season and when was the last time we had a striker do that

he cant score every chance, he has been very unlucky though hitting the woodwork he does alot

Disagree. As so many people have said the majority of the chances he's missed have been created from his own tenacity. His first touch for the goal last night was incredibly weighted and finished well. I think if we are to have a new striker, a big man with presence would be the order of the day. Ball just isnt quite physical enough.

I think Cody and Elliott will do just fine. My concern is cover for those two. I have yet to see anything impressive from Ball and we all know what ROD isn't capable of.

The positive spin is that he gets in the right positions, but he is very wasteful. I hope he does come good but maybe need to get someone on loan as backup.

the midfield and strikers must be running on empty now not being able to have break as we need to win games and Rod doesn't do it for us and we have no spare midfielders ATM if Cody was allowed to rest then he will score week in week out imo or at least 1 in 2 games this season

Dion 97/98. If cody bags 20 this year do we all have to hate him in the same way we have to hate dion?

eh? we're like 5 games into the season, if they're running on empty then I'm very worried. I doubt we'd get a loan striker in that's a better option that McDonald or Elliot, so whilst I think we could do with another striker I don't think we're desperate.

Afternoon all I'm new to this site. i heard fleck can play upfront if so wouldn't it be better to look for a left bk as hussys a bit hit and miss for me??

Hussey is absolutely fine at left back, played well so far this season. If he gets injured Kilbane is experience in that position so I think we'll be okay, in fact I think Wood is even a decent left back as well!

what would we say about having Nimely back? Personally I would have him, great pace to use in this league and neat running on the ball with space! :thinking about:!

Well yeah he'd be absolutely great to have back, but there's no way we'll get him back in League 1. As for Beavon, had one decent season, really not bothered by him.

It was pointed out to me yesterday that Juke's conversion rate was 1 in 7. I'm willing to bet McDonalds conversion rate isn't any worse than that. Also, the more chances we create, the more likely it is he'll score most games. He's also looked decent to me so far.

I think as the season progresses, Cody's conversion rate will get better. Although his Cov career hasn't been great so far, he's already shown signs of what he can do. The miss at Yeovil in the last few minutes will be in the top corner the longer the season goes on. In my opinion he'll be the divisions next Ched Evans, and i mean in terms of goals, not criminal activitiy! ;)

We don't need a Striker, we need a quick Striker e.g nimley, Adam Campbell from Newcastle, trotta from fulham, Chris Martin from norwich, berahino from west brom

Chris Martin is definitely not a quick striker.

Granted he isn't rapid but is as quick as what we've got and is better than Ball, ROD and Jeffers

Elliott is quick and is playing very well currently. Martin may do well at this level (he did with Norwich), but I wouldn't say he's more mobile han Elliott or McDonald.
