We need to build a team around these players (5 Viewers)

This may shock some, but I’d actually keep Bobby Thomas over Sakamoto.

Think the former can improve with the right players around him and the latter we have already seen the best of.

To be fair Tatsu didn’t do well yesterday. He was pointless. Agree Thomas needs someone to learn from. He’s the best of a terrible bunch.

Maybe a fantasy but I hope we can do something with Thomas and maybe even Eccles.
Torp is an interesting one but I'm not sure he's quick or aggressive enough for the Championship.

I will mention that I didn’t see yesterday, thankfully I was unable to! Only saw highlights so I’m basing my opinions on the other shit games we’ve seen this season. Of which there have been a few…

Tatsu is effective at home not so great away.
lets send him home then ! liked him when he first got here but after his injury not the same and isn't contributing enough way too lightweight, really nice guy it seems but we need someone better who can battle

TBF he didn't get that much ball. But agree he needs to be braver and be given license to attack away from home more.
But If we see blowing out Tatsu as some priority we really have serious problems.

God this place is so panicky after a defeat
I did the right thing logging off and getting pissed up, don't want to let yesterdays shit show ruin my Christmas. Reality is there's a lot to work with but defensively we're completely unacceptable. We were never going to go on any kind of run due to this, only a transfer window can sort it out, probably 2 transfer windows to properly sort it out.

Sakamoto was dreadful yesterday but he has at least shown he can be effective this season. His main problem is that he can only be effective when playing a certain position in a certain formation.

An experienced CB helps all the lads we’ve go playing there imo. We’re sometimes so static in the box it’s no wonder teams get the second ball in our box.

I am not even sure it will take that long tbh

It's just funny seeing idiots say win Vs hull don't mean anything but a loss Vs Pompey does lol

I love Sakamoto but what I really can't stand is his reluctance to do what he.does best. On 91 mins he finally takes his man on and absolutely skins him for fun, but it's the first time in the entire match he does it.

Every other time he passes back back and back. I can't stand it

Tbf, Tats is never going to get the ball and drive 30-40 yards with it, we need to get the ball to him in the final third in and around the 18 yard box, we just aren't doing that enough this season. And hes probably not being helped by Milans poor form, so all we are getting is a good defensive shift out of him and not the wing wizard we all know he can be.

Don’t think it’s quite that bad.
Dovin - how do we know. Needs to play.
Bidwell - perfectly good champ lb.
Van Ewijk - just needs to not play occasionally.
Sheaf. Anyone who thinks a group of players to build around shouldn’t include him is deluded.
And up front we have good options.

Rudoni was part of a team that was relegated last season, he will possibly repeat this feat unless we get one or two leaders and stop conceding at our current rate.

It's because it takes us too long at times to move the ball forward, and that starts from the centre backs. Thomas to his credit tries the odd pass between the lines. I think somebody remarked on the match thread that Torp or Sheaf weren't coming deep to collect the ball as they had been in previous games, not sure if that was because of the aggression of the press. Sakamoto also needs a bit more support closer to him rather than just MVE. I will go on about it forever but O'Hare was always making himself available for a short pass and we haven't really replaced it.

I am not advocating Tats out I really like the guy just saying he is very lightweight and we need better if we're to progress

I honestly think if we get in an experienced CB and CM, we'll see a massive improvement.

Not just because of what they bring, but because of the impact on the people around them.

I think Dovin and Thomas will 10x with a wise old head with them at the back, and that everyone will reap the rewards of a Hamer like machine in the middle of the park.

But we need competition at RB and LB too...because MVE needs a kick up the arse and Dasilva just isn't good enough at this level.

Completely agree, when we were at our best last season I went when O'Hare come back and just before Tats got injured. And O'Hare, Tats and MVE were fantastic playing together in tight little triangles to create space.

He’s played 11 games this season - seen more minutes this season than Simms, Bassette, or Bidwell. I don’t know what’s going on with the decision not to play with him but he’s certainly been given a chance.
Didn't do much wrong, no huge clangers like Collins

So for me, the squad future should look like this.

Dovin
MVE - Thomas - Experienced CB - New LB
Torp/Eccles - New DM
Sakamoto - Rudoni - EMC
Wright

Don’t think alot of our squad is that bad but the mentality is worrying. Players like MVE have been run ragged with lack of cover.

Need ideally three new first team all over the age of 27+ to get some professionalism and grit in them. Also need cover for MVE, Rudoni and Sakamoto.

Think five is doable and there’s actually a chance with a couple to get some bargains due to the free agents. But we will need to move some lads on
