That would make sense and show real intent but who ? He’s praised Godden tonight who’s been rumoured to be going . Moore is an obvious one , Allen ?
Moore, Godden (I think if a bid came in and we had a younger replacement lined up we’d sell) and possibly Hamer.

Last year we let 8 go at the end of their contracts and 5 loans went back. And most thought we were still a bit short come the end of the season. We have signed 5 but Vik has gone and sounds like Moore will be off. So net 3 players. Not surprised at all we want another 10. Don't think this will be with anyone going.

A left sided CB has to be top priority now.
The balance Doyle gave us last season was a monumental improvement & will be even more important if, as we suspect, we'll become more possession based again.

I like Kitching but think that might be a difficult deal to do. Would be interested to see what type of fee Eiran Cashin would be available for, he only has a year left on his deal at Derby.

Robins “Losing Viktor is a blow, there’s no doubt about that, but getting someone like Ellis in the building is a real coup because he has some real ability and qualities that we can work with. He’s 22 years of age and there’s loads there. He’s been out and experienced the Championship and scored some goals there - I think he scored seven in 14 at Sunderland and scored at Chelsea for Everton, so to get him is a real coup and a statement for us.

“I think the recruitment so far has been good but we’re still looking for another ten, so things will start to drop. People should be excited. The players are on the list and moving closer but it’s just difficult to get things over the line. There’s a load of work going on and Dean Austin is working his socks off.

“Doug (King) is involved in this as well and all working around the clock to make things happen and if we can get the ones over the line that I have given the thumbs up to then it makes for an exciting squad.”

Agree with this would really like Kitching thought he looked really good in their playoff final but might be difficult to do as Barnsley already lost key players so you would be paying over the odds.
Cashin a good shout tho.

I thought the title of this thread was in reference to the score line tonight…

Really positive comments from MR that we’re moving in the right direction and fair play to DK for opening the cheque book.

Before the playoffs, Robins was bullish about our recruitment this summer (irrespective of the league we ended up in) so we can all enjoy a preseason with lots of signings!

Imagine if losing our best player of the last 20 odd years actually made us a better team

I mean it would take some fucking doing, but would be seriously impressive if we somehow manage it!

Feel like we need another 3 CB’s as we play with three so then we have 5 with two for cover or rotation. 1 more RWB presuming Joel L is one. 1 more Forward and 1 more midfielder if Hamer stays then maybe 4 U23s/Development players to bulk up that side.

Of that list take away some obvious ones the one who would make me sit up and think “here we go” would be Chris Willock he is absolute quality at championship level and looks to be available also talking a defender Charlie Cresswell who we were linked with as a loan a bit back, left sided & was a top player last season in a mean Millwall defence, again proven top championship quality.
The Robins statement of signing another 10 will result in all sorts being linked, our squad is already looking strong going forward. As for loans they tend to go straight into the first team so looks like an interesting couple of weeks ahead.

Not so sure on the loans , I reck only two max given what's been said and as they tend to come with playing requirements.

I like Cresswell but he played right side against us.
