It was shit. Fucking pole in your view all the time. Knees banging on the seat in front. Fucking ages to get into and out of. No chance of any food or drinks at HT, no parking for miles. Walking back as a kid past prozzies. Mismatched stands.

I suspect the difference is between people who go to drink and people who don’t. Me and Otis aren’t drinkers and prefer the Ricoh.

The Ricoh is a decent stadium, but certainly showing signs of ageing and lack of maintenance. The problem is that for most of the time we played there it was pretty miserable!

For me the problems with the Ricoh are largely around matchday issues caused by poor event management.

Obviously we'd all love a traditional style ground in the city centre but thats not going to happen. Even if we believe SISU, and I'm pretty sure nobody does, that a new stadium is a possibly that could take 10 years or more even with a cooperative council. The Ricoh is the only short to mid term option in the city. Unfortunately Wasps hold all the cards and until they change their stance we are stuck.

The next issue coming down the line will be the EC deciding if there is something to investigate or not. If they rule there is then that could take years, will Wasps maintain their stance then?

The station at the ground made it so much more enjoyable for me in recent years.

Ricoh would be good if it had a decent number in there.

The return game was as good as any home atmosphere I can ever remember.


As I have said many times on here, St Andrews is boring me now. The atmosphere is woeful. It started off so well in the first two games but there is barely a song all game now. The extra time and money it takes me to get there is adding up.

The Roost was and still is good but even the novelty of that is wearing off for me.

I agree with so much of that, except I wasn't encountering the prostitutes at all. Don't think I ever saw one, even though sometimes I would look for a good 30 minutes or so.

The seats were very tight. One of my mates was a big bloke and he stopped coming because his knees were always pressed up against the seat in front.

I didn't have any trouble parking, though I would have to make sure I was there before 2, but my main problems with it were the lack of atmosphere, poor views and uncomfortable seating.

(I see the Champions of Champions snooker is at Milton Keynes next year btw)

I just think the divide is interesting. Not a right or wrong thing. For some they want a certain atmosphere that involves drinking and their mates and so on, just wanted to show there’s some sections of our fans with a different perspective. Fanny views matter too :p

No timescales. Lots of “usually”s and “should”s. I seem to remember six months for the initial decision on whether to investigate then up to 5-7 years if they do. Could be well off though. Not sure if that includes potential appeals or what.

You also though have to look at the crowd as a whole don't you.

I would be interested to know just what percentage of fans like to go for a drink before the game.

I suspect it wouldn't be more than about 20% of the attendance.

considering I was a child when we were there (prem days) I’d disagree with the drinking side of it for me. Didn’t start chugging pints until I was 9.

the other joke is that in Birmingham there are zero parking restrictions

of course i can understand it, i have been games with mates and drank, and i can go games without touching a drop

either way the game is the most important part

yet there seem to be many that see a game without drinking at pubs as a bad experience. which means the football comes second whether they like to admit it or not

would you agree?

The parking restrictions make a massive difference. It's lovely to be able to just chuck the car on the side of the road and walk rather than messing about with car parks or a trek to get there if you want to park for free.

Obviously the answer is a tight ground by the pubs for some and an air conditioned recliner stuffed big screen with waitress service serving no gravy dinners for others.

I do wonder what the average percentage is of those who like a drink at a game.
