Just back, superb all round until they scored and then we played it like a cup tie. Dug in, ground it out but a bit hairy at times. Some of the scores here a bit low imo but probablya reflection on expectations and how far we've come. I thought we fully deserved the win. Sheaf obv MotM (9) but lots of endeavour all over. Probably mostly 7/7.5s the rest.

On the dodgy stream with Sheff Wednesday commentary they said he was the best player on the pitch today (which obviously was actually Sheaf) but he is always the one talked about from our oppo’s fans / commentary
He was great first half, all the usual flicks and clever passes but also worked hard which is something an oddly vocal minority on here accuse him of not doing.

Nonsense, we have two fine Championship standard goalkeepers.

Collins had a good game today, his kicking was excellent.

Question: who on earth do you think we could get that would be an upgrade?

Every keeper at this level has issues to work on. Even ones that are highly rated can make mistakes. Patterson at Sunderland is being linked to Liverpool and Man City yet had a stinker against us.
Must be trying to drum up interest.

6 is average for me
To be brutally honest he was well below average, not his fault he is so slow, the team played great balls forward for him to chase but as soon as they were played you just knew they would be snuffed out, I cannot understand why Robins don't just use Simms in the lone striker role, he surely has to be a better proposition to trouble their defence unfortunately Godden doesn't really trouble defences but he runs about a lot ...I am not going to question Robins here because normally he proves us all wrong but his obsession of playing Godden in that position really isn't paying off as much as the trust he puts in him

Sheaf was great deserved MOTM. But Palmer? He gave them so many problems he never had less than 2 players on him. This gave space to our other players. Made some great touches like the back heel. Wasn't far behind Sheaf in my eyes.

Yeah I agree with you and was making the point that a neutral fan called him MOTM when some of our own fans are giving him 5’s.

I would guess one of them will be by whatever user name Boosh is using this week. Then you have those that have always had a go at Palmer however good he plays. Yesterday was easily one of his best performances for us. They just couldn't stop him. But Sheafs goals were the difference between the two.

I thought Eccles was brilliant yesterday, but piped to the MOTM award by 2 goal Sheaf.

Strikes me Palmer is a 'Marmite' character, as there are clearly a number of irreconcilables on here who will never be convinced. I have always been a fan - old fashioned tricky midfielder. But yesterday he was involved closely in both goals. It was his flick that caused chaos in the defence leading to the hasty clearance that ended up with Sheaf for the first. In the end to end move that led to the second, he was in an inside left position to play the continuity role, then turned up at outside right to fire in the centre.

He was a bit of a 'dandy dan' when he arrived but the coaching team have helped him become a more solid participant.

He occupies a difficult position as a squad player. You want squad players to be good enough for the first team but at the same time, by definition, they are not good enough to be first choice in the first team. To have such a skilled player in that position in the squad is good news.
