Well i'm going to stand up and say ,he looks bloody fantastic, and with coming here and playing with better footballers, he should then recieve better service.Better service means more chances, more chances means more goals.
I don't give a toss who he's played for,a natural goalscorer like ALF would do well for us.In the video look at all the 5 yard knock ins he gets, only a natural goalscorer gets in those positions.I will be overjoyed if he joins us,and at bloody last some good news.
Bring it on

Le Fondre's always looked decent when I've seen him play. A goal record like his speaks for itself as well.

Would be a decent signing aslong as he has abit of time to adjust bit like Pitman at Bristol needs half a season to settle in. So although would like to see him i think along with a Lisbie type of player this could work out.

I still cant see us getting him though as im sure others will enter the race if they know rotherham are willing to let him go...

utterly agree it is worrying, basically any side with wingers and an ariel threat in the box are going to beat us. i love watching wingers and we havent had a decent one for years. mifsud was good when on the wing, and i spose Macca is ok when he is on tune
Surely our fullbacks are what prevent crosses coming into the box? We don't specifically need two wide midfielders to add protection, the midfield three slides across. When I say troublesome, I see how many goals Le Fondre scores from balls coming in from crosses and cut backs at the byline. That would mean McSheffrey and Jutkiewicz running those channels.

To be fair if he was to sign for sheff wed over us we need to be asking questions, I mean were not exactly bursting at the seems with talent or money but we are a championship club regardless of our chances etc and by all accounts sheff wed are suffering similar problems to us but in the league below

would be chuffed with ALF. but I fear there's a reason there are no media stories about this... it's not true!

if AT or KD were on radio saying "we're" at an advanced stage - it would be in the written press by now. not just on rufc forums.

we can pray though

Read back, it was posted that Rotherham's chairman was on the radio talking about how we were in discussions.

I think he looks a good finisher with great anticipation in the box, probably won't get involved in our build up play much but will just poach in the box. He seems to be the Darren Bent of the lower leagues to me and players like this usually score goals where ever they are. I think he needs to be partnered with someone with a good footballing brain and good vision/awareness of players around him so they can pick out his runs with passes.

Also I always liked Andy Morrell for us I thought he was ok upfront for us but then he was moved out wide which didn't help

EDIT
I don't really trust youtube though as any player can be made to look good on youtube

Taken from Rotherham Fans Site - so don't know how true it is but it doesn't mention us at all:

Rotherham United have had a bid from Sheffield Wednesday for top striker, Adam Le Fondre.

The Owls contacted Rotherham before this weekend with a bid, that, it`s led to believe was around £200,000 and rejected and Chairman, Tony Stewart saying, 'It was not worth taking seriously.`

It is thought that the Owls will make a fresh bid for the twenty-four year old.

Meanwhile, on Radio Leicester, on a Football Forum last night, Sven-Goran Eriksson said that Leicester City are still in talks with Rotherham over Le Fondre but nothing would happen until after the Carling Cup game between the two sides.

Le Fondre had a great start to last season but seemed to lose his way towards the end, maybe that he's a confidence player (like Eastwood). Scunthorpe were in for him and Alan Knill said that Rotherham were after £500k for him, which I think is too much of to pay in our financial state for an unproven player. Having said that there seems to be very few strikers available to us that have a good chance of scoring 10-20 goals a season and with Thorn's style of football he could just have to play the 'fox in the box' role for us which King basically did towards the end of the season (he barely contributed to build-up play from what I saw).

Proven goalscorer in League 2, im pretty sure that he hasn't even played League 1. I'm not saying that I wouldnt give him a chance, if he comes then great and I will support him, but I am not sure that he will be good enough.

L2 GK's and defenders are generally shocking, though. I've seen him play enough to think that he's nowhere near as good as Freddy (who I also don't rate). He hasn't got the L1 goals that Freddy has, nor scored a screamer against Man U. In fact he looks exactly the sort of striker who feeds off defenders errors and tap ins. A "flat pitch bully" in cricket parlance. He'll find those kind of chances a bit harder to come by in our division.

Still, I'll eat my hat if we actually pay money for a player. AT himself has said it's loans or free transfers, so I have to assume it's bye bye Lukas. Le Fondre for him would be a terrible deal.
