Not keen, can see Simms being isolated in the box. The box formation works best when you've got a midfielder willing to run beyond the striker - perhaps O'Hare's game includes that now but we shall see.
With two quick strikers away from home, we need to play as we did last season. Absorb pressure and hit teams on the counter.

Tavares at RW isn’t really the answer to Saka’s absence.

Our defence needs to stop leaking goals so playing 3-4-1-2 may improve this.

First away game for me so pretty excited although it’s going to be a tough match. I think the team has come a long way since we last heavily used the wing back formation so I don’t hate the idea of going again whilst Sakamoto is out and it can only be a positive that we have the option to change things up as well.

Think we will lose this 3-1 just think they are quicker and stronger than us plus at home.

Love the idea of Haji off the bench (if fit).

The reason we’ve reverted back to 3-4-1-2 is because Sakamoto is injured.

I remember having this discussion 2-3 weeks ago. The link up between Sakamoto and MVE on the right was made the system go so well. It’s no coincidence, in my view, that performances and results tailed off when those two (in particular) showed signs of fatigue.

At best, 4-2-3-1 could work if you put Palmer LW and Wright RW perhaps.
Yea, we're light in the foreward positions for sure, and Palmer is hardly Mr 90 minutes week in week out...

I'm not actually adverse to a back 3 despite our early season results, I think Torp may make it a tad more effective and we probably have more room for tinkering

We knew it was going to be 5 ATB, we know who is/isn’t available, other than whatever is going on with Collins, it’s probably our strongest available team.

Weirdly excited for tonight.
Apart from Wilson I'd go with that. Maybe Wright for Palmer, but KP should be up for it after Monday

Don’t Baggies only play with one up ? I still think we could/should consider a 433 with Eccles Kelly torp in midfield or Eccles Torp Palmer for more attacking. Or a box with a front two. Maybe a bit narrower than with saka but possible.

Let’s see how we go though. Decent team still if saddlebrains is correct

I don't mind the box formation, we played this in the home game and were arguably the better side. A few refereeing errors and Wilson clanger did for us

That game was played in October ‘78 and the brown kit was introduced that season. I attended that match but, apart from remembering the shame of losing by such a large margin, have no specific recollections of the match so l am impressed by your ability to remember details. 😊
Yeah me and a few lads went to that game on the train. The Rocket pub was heaving that day . We had a following of about 7000 there but we all ended up shell shocked
