After a clean sheet in goodness knows how many games, surely we should not change the defence.

You would think so, but Bidwell is coming back from injury and Lampard I'm sure mentioned something about having 3 games in a week so a good time to see what different players bring.

I think it will be the same team with the possible exception of Bassette starting rather than Simms and Raphael rather than Fabio on the bench.

Not sure King will put his hand in his pocket when we have two other LCB's on the bench
They wouldn’t be helping us much on the bench.

If it gets to Jan 1 and Frank believes his best CB pairing is Thomas and Lati then one of Binks and Kitching has to go and we bring in a new left sider. It’s common sense.

Yeah wouldn't hold your breath on either of them going pal :ROFLMAO:

Maybe Frank should try Kitching up front as scores a good few goals and shows aggression which is what people are slating Simms for lacking 🤣🤣

Kitching would probably have plenty of takers in league one on loan if we were flexible on wages.

I don’t think either are complete failures that need to be shipped out at all costs.

Loan Kitching out and get a solid LCB on loan ourselves, then reasses him in the summer would be a decent plan imo.

Birmingham could definitely afford him, but actually, I still think he has a future with us after Frank has got his feet under the table properly

I don't get this desire to dump Kitching, we have 4 centre backs in the squad to cover two or maybe even 3 positions. We might trade a centre back in the summer but not in January.

We also have to remember all our centre backs are relatively young for that position and you would expect a gradual improvement by next season.

...unless a good hard bitten quality old pro became available on loan who was an established leader on the pitch and taller than Lati.

I wouldn't read to much into the tactics from Saturday, it was just to keep it as simple as possible due to the weather.

Kitching currently seems to be coming 3rd in a 2 horse race. Personally I don’t think he’s a lost cause but it’s not hard to see why the question is being asked and if we do bring a centreback in in Jan you’d think he’s closest to the exit.

Worth remembering that the broad consensus on here 4 years ago in our first season back up was that McFadzean should be dumped.

WBA are due a win or a defeat when you look at the amopunt of drawsthey have had! So it will go one way or the other...
lamps needs to show tactical skill here, a bigger test than Millwall. They are strong in the air so a worry if Lati plays in a CB position. We will need to defend well and stop Grant from running midfield. Bassette will get nothing from these so Simms must start. We will need physicality. You always have that feeling a returning player tends to score against you. Step up Asante. It could be our day...or not.

Yer it really wasn't fun watching us under Phil Neal. Looking back, the WBA win was the only 1 in 13, ending with him getting sacked and Big Ron coming in -

Yeah, during this time he went by the name of "Phil Nil"

Was there when we lost 7-1 in the league. Went back shortly after in the FACup lost 4-0 I think.
Genuine dislike for Hawthorns ground. A point would be precious.
i was there for the 7-1 loss. one of my first ever away games.
do i remember it rightly, did the cov fans dismantle the back of the wooden stand?

rough old times. Silk scarves hidden under denim jackets on the approach to the away end.
Don't recall the stand at back of the terrace being dismantled ?
Reasonable response to conceding that many !!

Just checked scorers that day.
Regis 2 Cunningham 2 "Bomber" Brown 1 Cantello 1 Statham 1.
That Albion team were decent. That list is up there with their best players ever I would think ?
Fergie for us

Also in their team that day was Brendan Batson who made up the "3 degrees" with Big Cyrille & Laurie Cunningham. Chuck in one Bryan Robson in midfield too.. 😳

I think I’ve only been the the Hawthorns once and it was 1-1. That’s my prediction for Weds, wouldn’t be a terrible result and confidence will slowly start to build

Double edge sword on the rotations. One hand don’t break a winning side, other hand allow rotations to review your squad and allow everyone the chance to show up. Will be interesting to see where lamps goes.

I don’t think a spell out of the team means wasted money. He’s young and presumably they’re bedding him in. I think he’ll be good and here for a long time (Dovin)
He’s been treated pretty badly already. Wouldn’t blame him for wanting out.
