Very unlucky to concede to a massive deflection, and that goal has allowed West Brom to sit in and keep a tight defensive formation, and with only 1 up front we need to be patient and try to break them down.

I think we need to throw Simms on to partner Bassette at some stage, and maybe take EMC off. Also Torp for Eccles at some stage, and try to get him into shooting range

Same old Sideways, backwards crap…

It’ll keep happening until we sign a proper dynamic, creative midfielder and a proper left back.

Why is it, whenever we give a team a 5 minute spell they always score?

Really disappointing.

Pretty poor half, too passive and too narrow. Even the the chance at the end, the widest player was Sakamoto who was outside the D. We created a good chance but we really need to stretch them.

Good ball by EMC, but has again been below par. His two goals have papered over his contributions in our open play. Eccles and MVE have also been pretty poor. Lati hasn't been great either, he slows us down in possession.

Thomas MOTM so far.

Decent half. They’ve got a lucky goal and we’ve generally controlled it. Sheaf and Eccles have got to stop slowing it to walking pace when they get it and pop a few quick balls about.

About as I expected it to be personally. We still have a lot of work to do.

On the positive:
+ EMC just looks so much more relaxed, he's gone to hit a major purple patch soon.
+ Bassette's movement is levels.
+ Other than a lucky deflected goal not felt that threatened our end.
+ Our top end press isn't perfect but still big improvement.
+ Lati and Tatsu working really hard all game. Great to see.

On the not so positive:
- Eccles has lost his head after that deflection. Know it won't happen but I'd pull him for Torp at HT.
- MVE still an absolute shadow of the player we've seen, and worryingly absent in positioning again in this game.
- The absence of a player like Hamer feeling startlingly obvious in this game.

why didn’t he find a pass - there were two players free for a simple pass to feet up the line or central, but he took an extra couple of seconds then played it straight in the air into touch - he’s a professional footballer, should be able to make a simple pass from there ‘mate’
Our midfield, especially Eccles, are lambasted for playing safe. He had obviously seen a progressive pass forward to release someone and miskicked it, which even prem players do regularly.

I thought we have done ok and created the better chances, not much between the sides at all. Agree we need to speed up play, moving the ball too slowly at times.

He’s been anonymous 95% of the half
I actually think part of the reason he's not been as involved as he would like is that the midfield haven't really got going and he's not linking well , feel like if the midfield 3 go up the gears second half the whole team does too

Think we just need to be quicker with our passing and movement.

The deflection was a total fluke. We haven't created enough yet though.

Think Thomas, overall, has had a very good game.
absolutely, without bob we'd be 3-0 down

Potentially. I’m surprised Torp was dropped to be honest. I really like him.

if he can’t last for 2 games we probably need another CM aim January

Bassette needs help up front. He's isolated. With Tats and EMC putting crosses, needs Simms with him but at the expense of who?
