just watching the game now there keeper is dodgey, i could have even told westwood hes gonna be on the bench most of the season when he signed wonder if hes regretting it now as might affect his chances playing for ireland

Yeah, he must be devastated to quadruple his wages by signing for Sunderland, with the likelihood he'll be 1st choice sooner rather than later and the bigger exposure of playing in the Premiership. He must be really regretting not being 1st choice in a side 3rd bottom of the Championship and big favourites for relegation.

Gordon will be gone at the end of the season, he's a busted flush. Don't fall into the trap of thinking he's a good player because they paid a huge amount for him.

I agree, anyone saying Westwood went there just for the money are kidding themselves and I'm sure Steve Bruce didn't sign him just to warm the bench. He's a very good keeper and will get his chance eventually.

It's odd how many people seem to take some kind of glee in the idea that a player who served us well and left with minimal fuss or controversy may fall on misfortune in his career. Not like football fans to show bitterness.

Here here.

I think every passing week takes Westwood closer to the Sunderland first team, and once in he won't look back. Different class to either Mignolet or Gordon (who are a bit pish). Not only that, I watch half the 'keepers in the Prem and think he could do a better job. But I am a bit biased-he was after all one of our shining lights in the past 3 years, and always gave his all, saving us countless times. Whatever you think of him, anyone who has had a season ticket for the past 3 years must realise that we'd have been relegated a long time ago without Westwood. At least one certain-goal saving stop per game during that period, and often 2 or 3.

But on last nights performance they could well be in the championship. They looked poor.

I wish him well, and he never let us down.

He has moved onto better things both being with a Premiership club, and wages (and yes that does help) and judging by the quality of their current keepers, and their position, he will be playing sooner than later, as they need him.

Westwood was class at Coventry City, easily our best player over the 3 years he was here and his goalkeeping must have saved us a shed load of points each season. One of, if not, the best in the Championship in his time here. If any Cov fans disagree then they are bitter about the way he left on a free.

It still irritates and embarrasses me the way that CCFC so called supporter / nob head went mental at him after the Preston game last season at Deepdale.
