Only just got into Aslan over the last year or so, Jesus they could have been huge, and the lead singers had an awful life

Can't beat a bit of McCarthy so my L.P. today is this: "Banking, Violence and the Inner Life today", including classics such as "I'm on the side of mankind as much as the next man", "use a bank I'd rather die" and "write to your MP today".

They have consistently been one of the best live bands around for 20 years and they are clearly having a load of fun tonight which adds to the performance. And there's still Everlong to come!

That has to be one of the best performances ever at Glastonbury. ACDC are the best live act I've seen but that runs them close ! ☺

Yeah, one of the best Glastonbury performances without a doubt but my favourite is Radiohead 1997. I still remember listening to that live on my Walkman at the time. There's a great quality remastered audio version on YouTube that I listen to frequently.

Bought it on day of release, thought it was crap so took it back. Bought it again a few months later to give it another go and thought it was crap. Bought it again a few months later and it is indeed a masterpiece. Same goes for Manics Holy Bible, it took a lot of listens to get into it and now both are still played to death 20 years later.

Radiohead are a Marmite band though. You either like their music or not ? The singles I've heard like Creep and a few others I like, but hear their albums and concerts can be hard going at times ? But you're right some music takes time to register. As I've mentioned before I've just got into Dylan as I thought his music was boring, but how wrong was I as it's not at all.

I would say OK computer and the bends are both pretty accessible albums...the rest are an acquired taste.

Yep.

Seen them live and love their early stuff, but now they have gone a bit avant garde, jazz tuneless fusion for my liking. They can make such hauntingly beautiful music, so I find it disheartening when they dish out such an incoherent mess of a melody.

Never really listened to much of Ed Sheeran but enjoyed his set last night. On his own except for one track takes some doing. His fans look young as he is mainly a pop star ? But I reckon he could do more rock stuff if he wanted.

Probably a lone voice here but I find Radiohead, Foo Fighters, etc pretty insipid. Along with Muse, Coldplay and the rest they are just rock band by numbers. Ed Sheeran is pretty mind numbing too and will soon disappear like they all do in the end.

I only really thought Chic and Goldfrapp were any good.

Foo Fighters can do just rock by numbers and I really don't care for that stuff at all, but when they are edgy and veer more towards indie I really like them loads. The Pretender and Word Forward I think are totally brilliant.

Get you on Coldplay, but Muse? By numbers? I would say they are the total opposite and absolutely rock not by any numbers at all. They astound, frustrate, inspire and surprise you with every song and album and go from classical,p to hard rock, then go completely kitchen sink bonkers and back again.

Have you heard much, Torch? Can understand people not liking them, but I would say they are the very antithesis of a by numbers band.

They are anything but by numbers to my mind and you never ever know what you are going to get from them. They waver from out and out full orchestra classical, to punk, rock, RnB, pop and back again.

You never know what they are going to come out with.

Admittedly, not heard a lot of Muse, but wasn't impressed by what I heard. I said it was probably me but most of these bands are interchangeable as far as I am concerned. To be honest though, I'm not one to try new music very often. Every now and then I like something new. For example there's this Scottish guy called C Duncan (he's on Spotify) that is pretty good, I quite like his stuff.

Great album this. The latest project of Tim Gane he of McCarthy and Stereolab. A hybrid of modern and 70s Krautrock sounds.
