Listening to Heathen album by Bowie. Not played it for a long time and some good tracks on it. Very mellow and laid back album but nowt wrong with that.

Having watched Broken on tv over last few weeks I had to get out my nina Simone greatest hits and play 'I think it gonna rain today'. Superb...along with 'feeling good' wonderful tracks...such a powerful voice.
Have also looked up other performances of 'think it gonna rain today'...like Norah Jones and randy Newman but not keen on UB40s version...lacks feeling

Think the were meant to do it the year it got rained off.
Pretty sure Ian Mculloch did a solo set somewhere after that.
The Bunneymen may have done something outside of Godiva also, thinking maybe Motofest here.

correct, they played the Kasbah instead.

The Monaco L.P. I'd forgotten how good it was. I love Hooky's bass sound.

I love Pet Sounds. God Only Knows is beautiful and Carl's voice sounds so sweet. I love Caroline No too.

They came back and headlined the Friday in 2013, and if I'm honest I thought they were pretty poor.

saw them going back a few years and thought they were poor as well but caught them at a festival last year and really enjoyed it. Think McCullochs a bit of a diva and it depends what mood he's in on the night.

Just listened to Pet Sounds. I like it and for when it came out is sounds fresh. As for being a classic and one of the best ever albums though I'm not so sure ? Who makes these claims ? I rave about Fire and Water by Free and In Search Of Space by Hawkwind. But I guarantee someone will say both of those albums are overrated !

I've always liked Atom Heart Mother, particularly the Suite as it is so different compared to some of their albums. I listen to it every couple of weeks I would guess.

I know what you mean I felt a little underwhelmed when I first heard it at school. It was hyped even back then. You can blame McCartney for a lot of the hype.

Saying that there are some excellent tracks on there and as I mentioned previously God Only Knows, for me, is one of the greatest and most beautiful and melodic songs every written.

Me too. Bought all their stuff though the late 80s stuff is a little too "American" for me so rarely listen to that anymore.

haven't listened to them for a while, love the song trains to Brazil, think I'll give it a listen later.
Saw them years ago at a festival, afternoon slot, lovely sunny day, perfect setting to watch them.
