Precisely
Given some of the transfer fees paid to Scottish clubs, Scotland already has a premium to it in my opinion hence why I didn't include it in my post.
£2m for Lyndon Dykes for instance is laughable. He's scored one goal from open play this season.
which is a good thing anyway
By all means replace players, bring in new players, but don’t go over spending for something any player you sign will have this time next year. I really really think all this you need experienced players at this level is over egged, yeah you need one or two, but experience at any level will do. and most of your squad have 20 games under their belt now, You’re doing ok with a inexperienced squad at this level, and you’re handicapped. You don’t need to panic buy just carry on with what you’re doing. You do realise I am not saying stack the squad with older players just that we have an acute lack of experience in specific positions due to injury?
Why didn’t it show up on a medical if it was prior ?He played fairly regularly before he joined us so I don’t know if the condition was undiagnosed or something that developed when he joined us. If it’s the former, I don’t know why he’s suddenly unable to play games. If it’s the latter, there’s a decent chance that his career is over.
Experienced players at the level is whay I’ve been calling for since we got promotedBy all means replace players, bring in new players, but don’t go over spending for something any player you sign will have this time next year. I'm not so sure. Looking at the fa guidance the Dutch league is band 2.Not according to these guys who actually provide European scouting & recruitment advice to EFL clubs.
How?

By definition it raises the earning opportunity and general opportunity of uk players. It’s inconceivable the likes of Hillsner is earning very much and is taking the place in the squad of someone who can be developed here
Cricket almost destroyed itself Years ago by allowing very average players into teams.
Hamer would be allowed in due essentially to earnings size of her etc.
Also again this is how football wants to operate - it can easily not do it this way
You say it’s penalising our model
Other than Hamer how given every other overseas signing had been a dud
What utter nonsenseIn terms of having players that have the talant/skill to compete in the championship we are very thin on the ground. Dabbo, Hamer and maybe a couple of other potentials tick the boxes, the rest need to up there game if we are to survive in this league.
MR also needs to step up as a championship manager and work on his tactics or we will be relegated.

It raises competition for a smaller pool of players meaning bigger fees and wages go to average players. It’s already the case that fees for English players are inflated and this will amplify that. Our strategy is to have expertise in foreign leagues as well so we can cheaply get decent players who aren’t on the radar of other clubs. We aren’t the only club doing it either and stifling that has an impact on clubs like us in particular.
English players signed on free transfers could thus demand higher wages, clubs can extort higher fees for more dubious players etc. These rules are not good for us
He hardly played at all. He had two seasons at a club which I suppose is a fair league 1 standard then slipped down the ladder and was playing for a team at a pretty low level
British football was stagnating before it opened up to cheap imports from Europe, Scandinavia etc. Their arrival and influence did wonders for the game’s development. Yes, it bothered some Chelsea fans that they could start playing a full XI of foreigners, but most didn’t mind because they weren’t shit anymore.
By all means, we can take the protectionist approach and hope that English players playing an English style will thrive in the absence of more talented foreigners. But they didn’t before. And other leagues where foreign players, coaches and styles can flow more freely will continue to develop in ways that we can’t.
Right, but he still played a dozen or so times last year. Whatever the standard, getting that number of games out of him seems inconceivable this year.
well complain to the FA it’s their idea and still I don’t agree. hamer would get a Permit and the others frankly I wish could have their permits removed
Kastaneer Hillsner de costa and jobello fit into your argument?
I would if I could. Let’s suppose we had found players from those leagues more to your liking signed on similar terms. Under these rules we and other clubs wouldn’t be able to. Narrowing the pool of players clubs can choose from means you end up paying more for average English players.
Football is one case where free movement was a God send
Of course not, what’s your point? Do Shipley, Burge and Ryan Haynes fit into yours?
Really? How has it specifically been a godsend for us?
True, though you could probably have picked up Lawrence Shankland for the same as Hiwulla or Baka when we signed them. In any case Scottish clubs will now also have to put up with similar restrictions forcing the same effect
Whatever their limitations clearly yes as they are all superior players to the ones I’ve mentioned
It has been for the British game in general. In our case injury problems have prevented most getting a fair crack at it
I can tell I’ve managed to break your soul when you have to maintain that Burge and Haynes are superior to Jobello. That must have felt dirty when you hit ‘Reply’.
So which clubs at our level have benefitted from it? Has it really helped in terms of progression for the national team?
It has helped our clubs stay near the top of the pecking order. The likes of Mahrez would not be signed under these new rules would they? Do you dispute that it will drive up the wages and fees paid for crap English players?
I think it’s encouraged the opposite and allowed an influx of European players into this country who have earned absurd salaries they could never have had in any other league which has been to the detriment of the quality of the premier league as there are many many mediocre teams full of mediocre overseas players
it’s a bizarre argument - does the German premier league have as many overseas imports as ours?
Haha so now you’re praising the German model? Though since you asked, check out Dortmund’s signings over the last few years. Bellingham, Sancho, Haaland, Witsel etc etc
Why?What utter nonsense
I asked the proportion of overseas players and also their relative ability
How about Spain and Italy. Do they have the same proportion as us?
Can you answer as to how it helps the national team
Clubs in those leagues don’t have anything like the spending power of even ordinary PL teams when you go past the elite ones. That said Harry Maguire went for £85 million and Levy wanted £200 million for Kane. The PL’s problem is not Europeans it’s the absurd money clubs get from TV and billionaire owners
What about Haji, neilson, Boatang etcOf course not, what’s your point? Do Shipley, Burge and Ryan Haynes fit into yours?
