How many strikers do you think would be happy to sign as obvious bench back up and where do you unearth this being from ? Strange how a good number of others amongst us and the scouting network can see the potential and you can'tNo it’s because he looks bang average at best, he plays in a shit league for a team no one ever talks about, and from the (albeit limited) highlights reels of him he looks like a bog standard striker to me. Do you think he looks like a bit of quality then? I don’t mind at all if we use loanees or free agents but they’ve got to be decent. I’m not saying he is definitively shit, I’m saying from the limited stats and highlight reels I’m yet to be impressed.
I prefer if we went for players with potential of 76+ meaning they could be a gold card in the future.A bloke asked me a question, I gave an estimated answer, which is unlike what many people do on here, I see a lot of berating of strangers but very little of answering or reasoning themselves
What a waste of time and money the scouting team are when the club could employ you instead .Before you say I play football manager etc I don’t, just now and again I like perusing the made-up stats fifa put out, even for our current team (I think Van Ewijk is our best player on fifa ratings btw).
I’m not going to put a “fifa value” on what we should be signing as it varies from position to position and what we want out of the particular (starting/back up etc), but if you’re going down that route then I’d say I hope we’re looking at players 61-65 and above (maybe?).

We are not. We are trusting the scouting system and the club to develop the player . Most can see some promising attributes.I don’t think it’s a case of anyone seeing anything amazing, I think it’s a case of everyone jumping on a bandwagon because we’ve been linked with someone, naturally as we’re all football fans. Nick posted a video link to a few goals that I assume were meant to be Ntelo’s best (on the Ntelo thread) and I’d say only the last one was decent, the others were either a tap-in or him stroking the ball in for a few yards out.
What I’m not saying is that he’s shit, what I’m saying is there’s a lack of proof that he’s quality, so why is everyone getting hyped over him?
And we are still going to sign these types of players with potential, look at Rodriguez as another example . We can't sign 25 first team players !We are not. We are trusting the scouting system and the club to develop the player . Most can see some promising attributes.

As for the rating now its important they are 65+ to be able to reach that potential sooner.
If we take 61 rateds on it may take a few seasons before they become a gold card. Worth checking the work rates too just in case we almost sign someone with low defensive workrate
Don't have anything personal against you, respect your opinion but think its completely unrealisticI constantly try and be decent with you Sparks, I feel like I’m always considerate with how I approach people’s opinions on here and I literally said to you I have nothing personal against you and that we just have differing opinions. I’ve said exactly the same to @Chris1987 to @Deleted member 9744 and to @procdoc. I respect all of your opinions and I think that you all make great points at times. So why do you consistently take the piss and treat my opinions as if they’re dirt when I try to respond to you in a fair, reasoned manner?
Genuinely intrigued as to why you have an issue with someone that has never had an issue with anyone on here or has ever said anything negative about you personally in the past.

I have never berated you. But you keep making same mistakesA bloke asked me a question, I gave an estimated answer, which is unlike what many people do on here, I see a lot of berating of strangers but very little of answering or reasoning themselves
But the thing is if he had a great scoring record and a highlight real of amazing goals he wouldn’t be coming here as 3rd choice striker for £1m. Were using data to try and identify players who have the correct skill set to become great players before they actually produce it and therefore become more expensive and unattainableI don’t think it’s a case of anyone seeing anything amazing, I think it’s a case of everyone jumping on a bandwagon because we’ve been linked with someone, naturally as we’re all football fans. I also have no problem with you. You're polite and not abusive but I guess the issue is that you keep repeating the same things.I constantly try and be decent with you Sparks, I feel like I’m always considerate with how I approach people’s opinions on here and I literally said to you I have nothing personal against you and that we just have differing opinions. I have never berated you. But you keep making same mistakes
You just think too simplistically. We need Jude Bellingham 75 percent lite version. We need new signings with good FIFA rating etc
And btw football manager is a great scouting tool so it's nothing to do with that but FIFA doesn't put same effort into it's database and its not easy to find lite versions of world clas players
Unfortunately it’s impossible to sign anyone and have them arrive with “proof” that they are any good. That’s unless you have £££££££’s to spaff up the wall having had another club take the risk before you. Currently, we are the club before them. £1m is yesteryears £250k punt. So Ntelo would be ok for me.
But how much have you seen of him?
same could be said for brekaloThat’s exactly my point, how much have we seen of him? I just don’t feel like we should get overly hyped about him as we don’t know enough about him yet. I’m not saying he’s shit, it seems that he can shoot okay and has a bit of pace, it’s just that his stats playing in a relatively poor league leave a lot to be desired. Other than that I don’t feel we can say much about him tbh.

What hype?I do feel the stats were more abundant and better for Brekalo though, and the highlight reels had a bit more to them. It’s nothing against Ntelo but some of the highlight reels for him are like 3-4 clips repeated over and over. It just means the evidence we have to go on for Ntelo doesn’t justify the hype imo.
What hype?
The most positive comment I've seen is that he's got a bit of pace and scored a few goals. Don't think anyone is creaming their pants about him.
he does appear to have pace from the highlights, that probably is one of the things you can actually gather from a highlights videoThere’s about 8/9 comments on the Ntelo thread, all something along the lines of he could be a good back up for Simms, looks to have loads of pace, I think he’s worth the £1.5 mil gamble, etc etc.
Okay maybe “hype” is a bit strong but you get my drift. I’m personally neutral on this one until proven otherwise
Not seeing somebody play is usually not an issue for you. Why the change? That’s exactly my point, how much have we seen of him? Perhaps I’ve been heeding your advice BalliNot seeing somebody play is usually not an issue for you. Why the change?
I think once again you need to be realistic though. It's a hard sell for any player since he'll come in as certainly second choice striker, maybe even 3rd depending on how Robins views Wright. And we're only looking to spend £1m or so. We're not going to get an established worldbeater for that price. There’s about 8/9 comments on the Ntelo thread, all something along the lines of he could be a good back up for Simms, looks to have loads of pace, I think he’s worth the £1.5 mil gamble, etc etc.

colour me surprisedReally not sold on Ntelo tbh, stats aren’t exactly amazing for a league that’s very poor and I haven’t seen anything from any highlight reels that screams raw talent, just seems to fall over a lot. It could just be me being a pessimistic old fart but I’m really not sure why people always seem to rate the first thing we get linked with.
People aren't getting "hyped" about him though. Just recognising that he has a level of potential that could be improved in this squad set up by the coaching team. There's a major difference. Nothing against you personally but you do latch onto something and dont let it go like a dog with a bone. That’s exactly my point, how much have we seen of him? I just don’t feel like we should get overly hyped about him as we don’t know enough about him yet. Or @Saddlebrains with multiple bones.but you do latch onto something and dont let it go like a dog with a bone.
Tough signing this CF. We know Simms, and then most possibly Wright will be the CF of choice next season (and not forgetting Tavares) so we need to bring in someone who's not expecting to start, but at the same time can step up when needed. Ntelo seems a good fit for this role, has pace and is direct.Does Ntelo excite me? No. The potential is there in his raw attributes and we are good at developing players. Not every signing can be a definitive starter. As someone pointed out, you can't have 25 players that are first team ready as the ones not getting picked will become unsettled and cause problems to morale etc. We have to build a strong squad but remain pragmatic. This is why I'd keep Burroughs as back up as he's far less likely to kick off than someone who has moved from abroad to sit on the bench most weeks.
Ntelo will be a sub at first and that's fine for the fee we are paying.
