What happened to bang, bang, bang? (2 Viewers)

Maybe we have just missed out on more players than we all know about.
I want new signing for our club as much as everyone else does, but I would rather us spend what ever money we have wisely even if it does take longer, than just go out there and bring in players that arn't going to make a difference.

I think this whole bang bang thing is just being used as a stick to beat AT with.

Read through the 3 sets of club accounts (club, club's holding company, holding company of the holding company), and you'll see that this mess is gigantic and ties the club's hands very gravely indeed.

To be honest any player in L1 or L2 if they had the chance to work with Paulo Di Canio or Andy Thorn.... it's an easy choice

So here is the actual quote from the article, not what people thought he said.

“The players I am looking at are free transfers so they are not going to cost anything,” said Thorn who has already been linked with out-of-contract 16-goal Shrewsbury Town striker James Collins.

“First of all we need to come out of the transfer embargo and then as soon as that happens we need to go bang, bang, bang.
“They are all there but until we come out of the embargo we can’t do anything

So the reality is Thirn said we need it to happen, not that it was going to happen, we have since seen such targets go eleswhere as we never came out of the Umbongo quick enough.
Yet people are using SISU and the boards incompetence as another weapon to beat Thorn with

No doubt if we sign nobody and Keogh/Gael/Mcpake/Wood all leave that will also be the managers fault for "sanctioning" the transfers

Can we put a ban on this phrase being used endlessly on posts, its become boring now.
Show some originality guys !!!!

Yes, when are people going to realise that when things go wrong (including tactics, shit signings, ludicrous statements - 'I wouldn't swap any of my players' -, lack of motivation etc) it is SISU's fault.

And when things go right - on or off the pitch - it is all down to Thorny's midas touch, and proves the statement from the footballing messiah that is Stuart Linell :)jerkit:) that 'If you don't think AT is a good manager, then you know nothing about football'???

Come on lads, we must show our gratitude for having Teflon as our manager and guiding and leading us....into League 1 obscruity and beyond

How black and white. What is it, 6 signings in a year and a half? 1 hasn't had any game time to prove himself because he's the sub keeper. So just wondering who the shit signings are?

Exactly, look at his 6 signings and the roaring success that they have been...as we witnessed last season.

Alex Nimely is already being talked of a Sky Blue Legend and being invited to next year's get-together....

I don't think AT is a good manager but I stick up for him when in my eyes he is unfairly criticised.

How is Thorn to blame for a lack of signing, Thorn says we need to do deals before pre season starts and then this doesn't happen, how is this Thorn's fault? That crafty buggar Thorn leaving us under embargo until Collins had signed for Swindon  clearly Thorn's fault we didn't sign him and also his fault we look likely to miss out on Norwood

Thorn has played his part in us going into league 1 with tactics, not getting the best out of certain players etc. but his role was minor compared to SISU's part in taking us to league 1.

Even a good manager would have struggled last season (not saying they couldn't have kept us up) so anything more than relegation would have been over achieving imo last season for a novice in his first season of management.

Sure I would love another manager but anyone good will not be interested and anyone unproven is as big a gamble as sticking with Thorn. I have said in another thread give him the first 15 games, if we look under danger of another relegation you have to say what else have we got to lose and promote from with in just on the off chance they could get more from the same bunch of players however unlikely it is.

I have total faith in Teflon's ability to lead us to mid-table obscurity in League 1, so no need to even state that.

Thorn is a liability but seems to know exactly what to say to keep certain sections of the supporters onside. Some of the stuff that they come out with to defend him is ludicrous...in some people's eyes, he never has and never will do anything wrong.

He is tactically inept, unable to motivate and comes out with utter-bullshit, how can people not see it? There is no pressure on SISU while people are happy with him in charge. They refer back to the end of the 2010-2011 season as though it was a golden era for the club? How many games did we win? 2? 3? If people are happy and proud to have him in charge, then fair play, just don't complain when he relegates the club to League 2....as I always say...as least these people are happy with how SISU are running the club, they blindly back Thorn and allow SISU to get away with it.

Avoided the question. Nimely wasn't shit though, was he. Neither Norwood or Gardner. And the permanent ones weren't shit either. So I'm a bit confused as to where the blame lies with thorn on his signings when he was only allowed to bring in that many and the club sanctioned the release/sale of so many. I don't think thorn is blameless at all but believing the situation to be so black and white is completely ignorant.

And the permanent ones weren't shit either.

Before you start banding about big words...please define your meaning of 'weren't shit'...and then apply that to his permanent signings.

We'll start with Cody MacDonald.

And please don't say that he will be top scorer in L1 in 2012/13...some idiot has already made that ludicrous statement.....

No, I don't predict the future. But I saw promising signs with his movement and positioning. My opinion, he wasn't shit.

And what big words?!

I'll get back to you when I have recalled/found evidence of Cody MacDonald's promising movement and positioning.....:(

I hope this translates into 30+ goals this season as that is what this 'promising mover and positioning' shaker will have to deliver to stop Teflon looking a mug after his 'CODY WILL BE TOP SCORER' statement.

Do you believe everything you read? Do you think there is a double decker bus on the moon?!

Like what? Tactically inept? Lack of motivational skills? Bizarre man management of players?
No, Thorn said we needed to sign players quickly after the embargo was lifted and because it hasn't happened yet it is his fault
or criticising his transfer policy when he has no backing and all is left for him to select from is everyone else's leftovers

The three you have mentioned are all legitimate criticisms of Thorn, all I would say to them is yes he has probably been guilty of all 3 throughout times last season, he is a novice and he needed help as he was learning. He hasn't been given enough help in terms of playing squad or coaching staff to help us get by whilst he is still learning the trade. Anybody new to any job is going to make mistakes early on, sort of like the youngsters coming into the first team making mistakes, you need to help an support them whilst they are still learning and ironing out mistakes from their game.

The board should have either appointed an experienced manager with a good rep who would have made less mistakes and hope they could have kept them up, or gave Thorn the tools to recruit more players so his mistakes were less costly and hope he learned from them as he went along for next season.

Give a poor inexperienced squad to an inexperienced manager was just asking for trouble.

Frankly if we stick with thorn we deserve all we get. Some of our supporters must be the most gullible in the land.

Do you not like anyone else's opinion but your own? Do you have to try and belittle everyone because that's the only way you can win an argument?

"Do I believe everything I read" - no, I can form my own opinion. It's unbelievable that I think CM isn't shit. But I'm not the one who can see in to the future, obviously.

Oh, right, because I ask questions about your statement that Cody MacDonald did not have a shit season, I am belittling you???

FFS, if that's what you believe, nice one, but please engage in a debate...and as for the future, the only one engaging in time travel is Teflon isn't it???? Isn't he the one who has predicted that super Cody will get 30+ goals this season????

If I'd known you were that fragile, I would have just agreed with you and be done with it....

No no, I believe the belittling statements were "Do you believe everything you read" and "Do you think there is a double decker bus on the moon". And I was engaing in debate until the preditable reply of "yes you got me there". I gave my reasons why I don't think he's shit, you've just given LBB-stock responses. Shouldn't have even tried to bother.
