I think the fans are not fickle, but the reports that are coming out are fickle. Fans are responding to what they are told, which is fickle by definition i.e. Changing frequently.
Thing is, there's nothing inherently fickle about what seems to be happening: a freelance football player moves to a club for more money and/or a better shot fulfilling his professional ambitions.
That's how football works- it's very consistent. It's our (fans') often-extreme swaying of positions that brings the fickleness to the situation.
Interesting. If being fickle is changing loyalties sure we would be fickle if we were slating a current player not one that's on the verge of leaving us? How can you not change loyalty in that situation?
