Blue Square North, only avoided relegation last season due to other teams getting points deductions or expelled, have a squad of 8, only 4 of which played today.

Its the positivity and confidence gained from the fixture that we should be excited about. Yes its its just Hinckley... But any team would like that result.

What's your point? We should hammer them and we did.

Pretty much! Just answering the question and lending some perspective. It's not unusual for non-league sides to have less than 11 on their books at this stage of pre-season, though.

Nuneaton will be a much tougher test, can't wait, going to that one :)

This thread is a bit too desperate to put a downer on the game. It's not like everyone has come away convinced we'll now walk the division.

They had a team full of trialists so it's really difficult to judge both them and us.

Getting a run out for the more experienced players and some situational match experience for the young kids was the most important aspect of today.

At the end of the day how many under 20s did we have on!? Whatever way you look at it, it was boys v men. This time the boys came out on top!

im just making the point that people shouldnt get too excited because the team we played were a pub team

Far from a pub team. They are semi-pro. It is a good standard of football. We should be beating them but any 8-0 has to be a good performance.

They were only three divisions below us and we played a lot of kids. We still managed to score eight past them with out our main striker so give the lads some credit.

I try not to get too carried away when we win and not to be too downbeat when we lose. The result today was irrelevant, the score was just a bit of fun and something to cheer about. We will get a better picture when we are into the last 2-3 games of preseason

Why's everyone saying our first team squad is small? When frankly not all of them played... Yes there is some injuries but we were playing Hinckley town, our academy would beat them comfortablely, so I don't blame AT for playing the reserves/acad players but we need a couple of strikers and either Jennings or Howard and sign that French guy then we will be good for the season, I'm positive about the next few games getting harder as the weeks go on and let's see if we can keep up the good results. We should be playing our best 22 to get them fit that is the point of friendlles. Any body who featured tonight should feature significantly this season.
Our squad is small when you take away the kids. It was not an acadamy match. It was a first team pre season friendly. However another 3 signings then we are getting there.

It's a practice match, for heavens sake. We should not read too much into the result, regardless.

Having said that, I am pleased that we won comfortably, without conceding- that's as much as you can ask for.

It gives the lads a run out, and the manager a chance to gauge things. That is all.

Onwards and upwards, that's all we can ask for.

No, he is using at a chance to look at what players we have coming through. It is the same every year the academy prospects are given a taste of the first team in the early pre season game.

Have a look at the last 2/3 pre season friendlies to get a better idea of who will be involved in the coming season
