Unfortunately, I never got started as it,the school got the date mixed up with Campion High at bloody Easter break,so never got the chance., Just a long walk home.

I missed a pen once in a shootout in the Sussex Cup QF years ago.

It was 'the' penalty that lost the tie. Sent it just wide of the right upright.

Playing for my dads pubs Sunday league team years ago came on as sub , barely made it from the sidelines when my boots both got stuck in mud fell flat on my face and then the ref blew up 2 minutes later and we got beat 4-0

Just happened to be a range of abilities there, which was no big deal!!

Got sent off in a cup game winning 2-1 on a cold Sunday morning. Went for a shower and did the nice thing of leaving them running so it was nice and warm when the lads came in. I went to the bar and realised it had now gone to extra time and forgot about the showers. By the time it finished (and we lost) both sets of players showered in freezing cold water as some dickhead left it running and it was a tank that ran out of hot water. I wasn't very popular. 25 years ago and it still gets mentioned and they still think I did it on purpose!

I used to play after being out all night at raves. No sleep.

One game i was getting skinned by their winger time and time again.... same turn every time.

At half time i got a major bollocking and got told i had ten minutes to turn it around...... i got dragged off two minutes later for trying to take a throw-in from the side of the 18 yard box because i thought it was the touchline.

I remember one of our keepers once who'd been out all night..... he decided to liven himself up before a cup game by taking half a pill..... he didn't even notice the first goal go past him.

I've also witnessed Nick of this very forum come on as a sub, get (correctly) flagged miles offside, and immediately get sent off for calling the linesman a "fucking c**t"

Playing CF, a shot took a deflection and looped up high and was coming down a yard from the bar. I was first to react and waited for it to drop, got too keen, moved to early…. and headed it back over the bar….

it was the easiest goal I ever scored, but didn’t….

I once managed to score 2 own goals in the opening ten minutes, including one from around 25 yards out. I then made up for it by scoring from just inside their half with a hoofed clearance that somehow lobbed their keeper and went in a sublime finish.
