What would you do for the rest of the season (2 Viewers)

If you were in charge of the club now?

No off the cuff ranty silver bullet answers please!

My options below:

1) Tell Russell Slade to forget this season - use the remaining games to show how you would like the team to play next season and convince is you're the man to take us out of league 2.

2) Sack Russell Slade.
A) get Jason Farndon in, get rid of the loans and elder statesmen and blood some of the youth team and see if we can bring some of their verve and energy to the first team as a means of introducing a style of play that we can add to in the summer?

B) Have Sam Ricketts steady the ship until the summer.

C) Try and bring in a manager now for next season. To be honest, if this were the case I would try and get Steve Evans.

3) Keep going for the magical nine wins.

I would probably go for 2a. Any other realistic suggestions?

Nope.

I agree. If it is to be Slade next year get him to plan for next season now (assuming we lose again or draw against Bury).

If it is not to be Slade I would really like to see the man in charge for next season to be given a go now with next year in mind.

I don't think they would sack Slade, so it will be a case of trying to get him to do the decent thing and walk. Likely? I would say not.

2a for me. Farmdon has done a good job and some of those youngsters have more affinity with the club than the first team. Also they are hungry and would have no fear. Get farndon and players ready for L2 and show the fans their is a plan that the club will follow. Those players might need more than one season to really get to grips with men's football but I think we fans would be more tolerant if there is a lot of real effort

if slade is in charge next year I will fucking riot! He is a fucking imposter and needs chasing out of this club ASAP.
I appreciate he's working ofr the worst owners imaginable but he's fucking clueless and I'll be amazed if he gets another managers job.

Otis the only thing that may cause Slade to walk is to keep his never having seen a team relegated on his watch. Even though he is definitely responsible for our relegation

It's telling that our three best players today were academy grads. (Although I though Kwame showed himself to be useful and 'best' is a term used in the loosest sense)

I don't think Farndon would take it. He's built himself a good rep and the first team at the moment seems an impossible task. Excellent coach though.

The next in line would be Ricketts or Nicky Eaden I would have thought

There is no formula that will achieve anything with these leeches in charge. Stop feeding them blood next season and eventually they will die.

My top priority would still be my top priority for the last 2 years. Get a new goal-keeper.
Also, I would ban from the match day squad any player who cannot give 100% for 90 minutes in every game.
I'd also ban them from training with the first team squad and take away their squad number.

It has to be Sam Ricketts, let him take charge of the first team from now. Yes I know he hasn't the experience of management but he is an experience pro. and knows the set up here that is so important with these clowns in charge and you never know do you. He can't possibly be worse than the present incumbent surlely. I would start him this week, give him a 12 month rolling deal reason being he needs security too to get on with the job and not looking over his shoulder all the time and do the job properly his way, anyone taking over now with the present squad is going to struggle imo we have too many inferior players.

We can't afford to mess next season up though. Given our history we'll have one season where we're a big club (with the highest budget) in the league so we need to have the best chance of getting up in that season or we will likely slip through the league within three years.

I say we have to go all out to get Steve Evans.

Why Steve Evans ? I agree he would have been a better bet than Slade and looked as if he might have come at one point but I reckon he had a look st the sorry picture here and backed off.

Keep Russell Slade

Plan to buy a goalkeeper in the Summer. Next season have a team of the U23's and U18's.

I would hold a series of marketing events over the summer. Which included these players and Russel Slade.

I would hold my hands up and admit the strategy over the last 5 years has been nothing short of a disaster.

I would get a real people's person in to take over a chairman.
Also getva marketing/PR man.
I would make sure Tim Fisher disappears into the background.

I would drop the legal action. I would get the new chairman to engage with the council Wasps, the CET and all the supporters groups.
I would make the whole thing be about conciliation and safeguarding the future of the club. Really get the media on side and get the fans and the people of Coventry on side.

I would come up with all sorts of ticket incentive schemes.

I would try and get a marketing vibe going about the re birth of the club.
A new dawn the Phoenix rising.

I would negotiate a deal with Wasps and try and share resources wherever we can.

I would also look at division 4 assess all our competitors budgets.
Raise funds from one of my other hedge fund investment projects and make sure for once CCFC budget is in the automatic promotion spots.
This money is to be spent on 5/6 players in the spine of the team
GK,CB,CM,CF
So as well as the feel good factor from the marketing the charm offensive the new chairmen. The hope for the fans we actually get some success as well.

Get rid of Slade and Fisher.
Agree a playing style and keep to it whatever the outcome-it can't get any worse than we seeing now.
Go Korean and beg for forgiveness on their knees, head on the floor.
The rest I can follow your reasoning and pretty much agree to.

His record is phenomenal at that level and higher.

Boston - Promoted through non leagues into the football league for the first time.
Crawley - Promoted through non leagues into the football league for the first time. Promoted into League 1.
Rotherham - Turned a club on a downward spiral around. Got them promoted from League 2 into League 1 and then League 1 to Championship and kept them up.
Leeds - No promotions. No relegations. By most accounts he steadied the ship and now they're pushing for promotion.
Mansifled - Transformed their season.

Most of these were done on a shoestring budget.

Having said that if Slade hadn't come in this season I would also be recommending him for the job - and it seems they have similar footballing styles of play.

Depends what the plan is for next season. If it is for Ricketts to take over as manager then might as well get him started now. Get rid of the loans and concentrate on the players who will be here next season.

Lets get in a position where as soon as the window opens we have our manager in place and he knows exactly what he needs to bring in.

there won't be a plan, other than break even, that's why we're in the mess we're in.

Then if problem is Sisu and Fisher don't know themselves what they are doing.

I can't see Slade being offered the role if we get relegated.

I can't see Fisher getting rid of Slade right now either. It's all a bit too late.

There are bigger issues which are unresolved like the academy situation, we don't have a ground to play at after next season etc.

With relegation more than likely to L2, it's going to be a really unsettled time from the summer.

If we're going down the young and upcoming route, what about Carsley? Managed our U18s in 2010/11 I think to a second placed finish. Now Man City U18s coach

Probably the same risk as giving it Ricketts but Carsley has been a success so far in his short coaching career

If I was Carsley I would be stopping there working with under 18's at the right level rather than coming here and they are in the first team struggling against seasoned pro's
