When I think about what exactly is at stake on Monday...well!!!! Basically the future of Jones, Andreu, Bayliss, McNulty, Biamou,Willis, Doyle and even our Manager. And that's just for starters when you think what it might mean for the club. If we keep our key players I think we can compete in League One...loose them and our manager and I think we'd struggle in League Two next season. High stakes indeed...scary...but a very tense and exciting day ahead that's for sure!!

Doyle has signed an extension and I think we would keep a couple of the others you’ve mentioned but I agree we would almost certainly lose Willis, Mcnultly and probably Bayliss.

I'd forgotten about Doyle...but I do think Biamou has a great future and will be targeted anyway!

Typical paranoia from us Cov fans.

All our players are under contract, apart from maybe Bayliss. People feared a sell-off in the summer and in January and it didn’t happen. We only sold fringe players (Stevenson + Harries), and only lost players who’s contracts expired. We rejected a deal of up to £1m for Bayliss, deterred teams with our asking price for Willis and Jones got injured before any interest could materialise. Since the window closes before the season starts, Jones will v likely stay regardless of what league we’re in because he won’t be able to prove his fitness. The same with Andreu although he hasn’t done anything to warrant any interest.

Realistically, we could have a battle to keep McNulty, but I’m sure we’ll hold out for a good fee — we’re holding out for at least 500k for Willis. McNulty, I think, will be a good L1 striker, but I’m unsure if Championship clubs will take a punt if we hold out for say, £750k-1.5m. To compare, Marquis who got 26 league goals last season has only managed 12 in L1 this term. If a big SPL club come in for him, he may be tempted away. As for Willis, I can’t imagine we’ll do a U-turn on our asking price.

Bayliss, I fear could be off, especially if we fail to get promoted, but I’m ok with this if we get a good price for him. Andreu will (hopefully) fill the void left by him, probably as adequate of a replacement you could st for him in L1 or L2. If the Telegraph is right and his contract is 2019 with an optional 1yr extension, he’ll stay if we’re in L1

I do sense there’s a general reversal in our fortunes. Robins is a good fit for us, he’s rebuilt well and used the resources given to him well. Whereas Pressley had cut ssubstanstially to make the job difficult for anyone and Mowbray’s recruitment strategy was too ambitious for what our budget could handle. The only player we paid a fee for was Turnbull, who’s got relegated in consecutive seasons now... That’s not to say he’s a bad manager, just not a good fit for us. With Robins, we have a manager the board trust, the fans trust and can work effectively with our budget. It’s as a good fit as it was in 2012/13.

In L1 and onwards, our owners haven’t been as trigger happy to sell players when things have been going well. It’s only when there’s little chances of a successful season (i.e. playoffs) that we then start to ‘tank’ during the season (borrowing an American sports term). Even deals like Maddison and Wilson, that seemed to be sold quite cheaply, may actually pay dividends, with potential sell-on fees.

I fully expect Bayliss to go. From what I've heard the lad loves the club but he's not on a great wage so if someone comes in and offers him x amount of thousands per week then what choice does he have realistically?
I just hope we get a decent price and there's an immediate loan back agreed.

A player with his talents shouldn’t worry about money just yet. His development is paramount and first team football is what he needs, if we get promoted, he’s got an obvious career development path. Compare him to Sambou, left for ‘big money’ to Everton and I doubt we’ll hear anything significant about him again. Unless we’re playing him in L1 or whatever. The same goes for Thomas and Harries, and whilst the the former made the senior Wales squad (congratulations), BUT, he’s done nothing of note at Leicester. He’ll probably end up on loan to a L1 or struggling Championship team next season...

Young players must be wary of looking at the Premiership as the ‘land of milk and honey’. It’s too cut throat and chances are rare. Look at players like; Tammy Abraham, Wilson, Maddison, Dele Alli, Stones and Mawson who have all plied their trade in lower leagues before making the jump up. In short, young players should prioritise proving themselves before demanding big money transfers to Prem clubs.

The only thing at stake Monday is what league we play in.
Should we lose MR presses ahead with preparations for L2, if we win fantastic press on with the targets for L1.

All players you name are contracted and require a fee to take from that contract and if that player is wanted by a higher club they will likely leave regardless of Monday’s outcome.

Just suppose for a minute that Andreu and Jones were fully match fit for Monday. Would you play them, and if so, who would you drop to incorporate them into the side?

Be the bench on my part. Just don't see how you can drop anyone from Friday night.

yes but we do know sometimes sisu dont think long term and may sell assets

cannot drop anyone for players with no match fitness. i would have jones especially on subs bench but i doubt this is even remotely possible

Correct Sisu do tho haven’t so much lately, so we may be ok in that respect this time around if gates rise.

Plus if a good offer comes in and a players heads turned its immaterial what league were in

Yeah, well was talking in the fantasy world realm of fully match fit.

Kyel Reid had a fantastic Checkatrade final game and the wide spaces of Wembley would suit him down to the ground, but I don't see how we could drop anyone in order to incorporate him.

Shipley would make way for Jones. Bayliss has rightfully taken plaudits for this contributions this season, but, our best player is Jodi Jones. We can view this season with rose-tinted glasses because we're 90m from L1, but in reality, we've been missing an out and out winger since Jones' injury. You can see the quality we've missed out on in the 'goal of the season' candidates. Such good ball control and dribbling, but most importantly, was a game changer and match winner. Just look at our record v top 8 teams with and without him.

Andreu, however, has to earn his way back into the team. Kelly has been outstanding of late, and the system we've built is now a narrow-fluid 4-4-2 to accommodate Bayliss, Shipley, Kelly and Doyle. Andreu fits best in a 4-2-3-1 and can probably fit into the team on the wings, or fill in a central role if there were injuries. But, he's got to earn his spot.

I fully expect us to offer new improved 2 year contracts to even though they have a year left to run.
McNulty Bayliss especially.

For once we are in the strongest position ever going into a new season win or lose Monday.

Jones and Andreu will feel like new signings.

Just hope the fans back the club and players and buy season tickets. Let's give ourselves no reason why we shouldn't win it next year.

Even if andreu and Jones were miraculously fit they would be bench at best. You can’t change the team from Friday (unless injuries).
I thought Shipley was our weakest player at county but his final 20 was immense. Did a lot of unnoticed work in backing up stokes etc as well as taking the game to th m late on.
Like others I would certainly see a last 30 (depending on score) for Reid. He should be able to exploit spaces as Exeter tire...but his defensive work might be suspect.

He would love to go to the club he supports if they come in for him.....just hope we get promoted and keep him

Couldn’t agree more, it would be a disappointment obviously to not go up at this stage but next year in L2 we’d be a top 3 side easily for me after this year of experience

I wouldn't play either. It would show other clubs they are fit again. The extra rest would do them good and then unleash the pair of them next season. Ready made replacements.....and better...for those who will leave.
