We are absolutely in the play off hunt now. I said it on the match thread - despite the depleted squad I genuinely think we have a decent enough chance of scraping 6th.

Absolute testament to MR and the team. Excited end to the season ahead!

9th or 10th. Around there I think. There's just too many key injuries, especially in midfield.
You’ve got to be excited by Dabo and Eccles stepping up?
For me it now hinges on
Hamer
Vic
Back 3
The rest need to do the basics and cut out errors and allow the match winners to do their magic
Then it’s the old one game at a time adage isn’t it?

Yes, am excited. We have been very lucky this year with Gyokeres though. Only needs a little bit of a knock for him, or suspension, and then I think we would be screwed.

I just have this horrible feeling we may lose him for a game or two.

Midfield that worries me the most though . Only really have the one experienced head in there now, in Hamer.

There's a lot of things that are in our favour.

* The league's best striker who's bang in form
* Stingy defence, and Club record for clean sheets
* Players playing themselves into form (Dabo, Eccles)
* Key Players to return and play some part this season ( Sheaf, Allen & Palmer)

Any team making that late surge will need 3 of the 4 above for sure. Only doubts are injuries to Hamer or Vik that could destabilize things.

I know it’s easy when on a good run to get carried away look at Sunderland

And …..

We are absolutely and Injury or suspension to yok fadz and Hamer away from the wheels coming off and we always lose in front of a big crowd and we never beat the teams we should beat and it’s cov and it’s the hope that kills

It's great Dabo played really well on Saturday, but it is just one game, so I am not sure we can be so certain he's back to his best based on just that.

Eccles, I agree with.

Hope you are right on Palmer, Sheaf and Allen. 🤞

I doubt we will see much of Allen and Palmer - if at all

I know it's cherry picking and you can make up a narrative doing that and that's EXACTLY what I'm going to do. If we ignore the first 8 games of the season (6 points in 8 games) when there was numerous off the pitch issues.

46 points from 27 = 1.7 PPG

11 games remaining at 1.7 gives us 18.7 points.

I think we'll end up on 70/71 points, just missing out on playoffs on the final day of the season.

We took time to get going but went on a good run until the season stopped for the world Cup. When the season restarted we took time to get going again and now we're on another good run.

Could it be partially to our players needing to play to keep up with match fitness with the way our players run around a lot?

Much will depend on the next 3

7 points to put us on 59
we then need 11 from the following 7 games (very doable) to make the Middlesbrough game a cup final

Less than 6 points in the next 3 makes it very difficult

This group of players this season will never have a better opportunity. As I said in another thread it's about desire desire desire and a little bit of good fortune.

Think we need to win the next three TBH. Got some trickier games like Stoke and Watford at home, Swansea, Blackburn and QPR away where we could find it tough to get 2ppg. The two easier home games and a cup final hopefully against a team safely in third or second.

If we get 7-9 points from the next three, we've got a chance. Fall short of that, without O'Hare and Palmer, and being so dependent on Fadz, Hamer and Vik, think we'll finish where we are.
