People talk about selling players like there's a queue of teams waiting to pay money for players we've declared not good enough. If we stay up and Hyam goes then he's dropping down to L1 as Championship clubs are unlikely to be looking at signing a player we're discarding as not up to the job.
L1 clubs aren't signing players like Hyam for £250K.
Same when people say we should get rid of players like Kasta. Great in theory but he still has another year on his contract so unless he gets a better offer he can just sit that out.

Re the bold bit above - especially in the current climate!
I’d keep him as cover anyway, he’s been far from good for the most part this season but at least he could provide cover across all 3 CB positions and fits the bill of a cheap squad player.

That's the other part that seems to get ignored. It would be great to have a squad entirely made up of genuine Championship quality players but thats not going to happen. Therefore just because someone isn't first choice doesn't automatically mean they should be discarded.
I think League One clubs would see him as an attractive acquisition. Especially those in the top 6 who are desperate to get out of the league.
As much as he's struggled this season he was one of the best CB's in the league during the last campaign and part of a backline that was second I believe in total clean sheets.
It's only a guess but League One clubs could do a lot worse.

With respect CD I haven't indicted this and in fact I've actually previously stated that Robins is likely going to have to settle with regards to retaining certain players due to the cost in both time and resources of overhauling a squad. Especially as due to the cost in fees and wages bringing in experienced Championship players will be nothing short of difficult.
Hence why I fully expect Biamou (unfortunately), McFadzean, and Kelly to have their contracts renewed next season.
It's a valid point nonetheless, however given that Hyam does possess a year's extension in the club's favour it would be remiss of the club if they didn't attempt to put him out to market as from my personal point of view I believe we be able to recoup some kind of fee. A fee that we could perhaps reinvest in either a loan or a permanent signing.
I'll take your point about the lack of finances - an issue that will inevitably still be felt in the summer window. But I don't doubt clubs will still spend as once season ticketing and sponsorship money becomes available, it will be spent and you'd be highly naive to suggest otherwise.
