His dad is right and youāre wrong Iām afraid, was played consistently 1999 season, my first year with a ST. Happy times.
At the Ricoh early years we had some Aussie bloke (was it Mel someone) who introduced some special post match song for after a win that was actually quite catchy. Anyone know what that was?
we also definitely used to play final countdown at highfield in an early premier league season when M&b stand first had plastic seats put in.
We did have that at HR during the last few seasons, I think.Am I imagining us having the final countdown?
At Highfield Rd?
yeah thats a fair pointNor does our main anthem in its current iteration 2bf
Tottenham, Or Chelsea, United or anyone
Wow. Iām happy to be proved wrong and will retract if I am but surely the song in that clip is āWhile the sky is blueā not āItās for life sonā .
We had the Final Countdown for a short period in the mid 90's too.... possibly the Phil Neal era.... before Mr Blue Sky
Kris Kros will make you jumpAm I right in thinking that during the mid-90s, bands would play on a stage by the pitch at half-time?
I think this is the worst of the "modern" era. Sounds like Cliff, Eurovision '68.
Used to get played at HR a lot.
Fuck me! Got this gathering dust on a shelf somewhere, though not quite sure where...Does anybody else have nostalgia for this song?
I get itās slightly naff, but I remember hearing it in the shop for my first visits to Highfield Road in the late 90s, so I associate it with that incredible excitement of my first live football matches. Iām probably in the minority, but would love to hear it on more match days in the playlist before the rendition of WLADITT.
The Sky Blue Crew are still about it seems - www.thecrewgirls.co.uk - I think they replaced the Sky Blue Belles.Yes it is while the sky is blue, apologies I thought you were saying we never ran out to while the sky is blue. My bad.
Watching the players coming out reminds me of the little things about that time, the players having a little kick about with the mascots, the tin can tannoy, the sky blue cheerleaders, a lot simpler time watching us beat Arsenal. My first night game!
Wasn't Ready To Go just used by the PL as a sort of 'theme song' for a while. Playing it before a game was probably like having the song they play before CL games. If I recall this used to come on before they walked out of the tunnel, late 90s?
I had that CD. There was a banging tune about Huckerby on it. Went something like āHuck, Huck, Huckerbyā hahaduh, duh, duh, Sky Blue Army
duh, duh, duh, Sky Blue Army
duh, duh, duh, Sky Blue Army
C.C.F.C!
One was same age as me, think we were 16 at the time. I kept trying to shag her but she wouldnāt let me.what ever happened to the cheerleaders at highfield road?
Oh God, this too:
Oh God, this too:
You're thinking of the (brilliantly titled) "Gurno Mix" of the same song
I think people decided it was a bad idea with drunk fans hahawhat ever happened to the cheerleaders at highfield road?
I think the Final Countdown was used in the last season at HR.
Some bright spark thought it was appropriate without ever listening to the lyrics being about āheading to Venusā
yeah prob accurate, i thought they were called sky blue babes, but maybe im getting confused with my max power youth.I think people decided it was a bad idea with drunk fans haha
Sky Blue Land
An adaptation of the Best song of Australian Rules Football, Richmond's 'Tigerland'.
I'm no Richmond fan but it's easily best song. Widely acknowledged as well throughout Australia.
Each club has their own song, played as players run through a paper mache banner on pitch and played again if your team wins.
When you win and sing your song it's almost as good as an MVE celebration.
Bloody hell yeah youāre right, I remember that. Very different timesyeah prob accurate, i thought they were called sky blue babes, but maybe im getting confused with my max power youth.
The sky blue belles turned up for the first game of season against Forest (the one where Campbell got a hat trick) and theyād booked The Crew as well and I donāt think anyone told them, and they had to leave. Sure they were at side of pitch waiting to go on - it was a right goat rodeo. The Sky Blue Crew are still about it seems - www.thecrewgirls.co.uk - I think they replaced the Sky Blue Belles.
I went to see Palace vs Villa yesterday and they had cheerleaders at halftime. Clearly only unsuccessful in Cov haha. The sky blue belles turned up for the first game of season against Forest (the one where Campbell got a hat trick) and theyād booked The Crew as well and I donāt think anyone told them, and they had to leave. Or have I made that up?
