Who is good enough next season? (1 Viewer)

Most of what we have here is a great starting point, a better one than we've had for years .. as has been said all season the recruitment most people are dissatisfied with is the strikers , the rest has been very solid .

With 5 or 6 good signings next season we will be a real force in this league , remember we are 9th now and have been in and around the playoffs until a couple of big injuries

Looking forward to seeing who goes down as it's always worth seeing who can be raided. If Stoke go I'd snap your hand off for Burger, likewise Millwall and Flemming, Huddersfield and Rudoni. All become easier/cheaper to get if relegated.

Absolutely mate. I'm looking forward to next season in the Championship, I just don't want this one to end like a squeaky fart. A strong finish would be nice.

Can see us ending on about 65 points now , we've some really tough games left still and the squad just isn't strong enough on the whole with Sheaf and saka out

Shaping up to be a lot like the 08/09 season with a meek bowing out in the cup quarter final and a drift towards our natural league position.

Had a pretty decent side that season too.

The comment on Latibeaudiere is bang on.
A jack of all trades is usually pretty useful to have in a squad. Latibeaudiere is a perfectly capable utility player who can fill in or be subbed on when needed, but I’m not surprised to see him struggle when he’s being asked to start in a different key position in every game. He’s started at CB, CM and RB in the last three matches, he’s not exactly being set up for success.

Actually I think his inclusion is often detrimental to the team , we've better options everywhere but right back backup

I have faith in simms. I think he will come good

At some point it's easier to admit he's just not very good.

I feel like all season we've been backing him to come good and we keep getting let down.

Collins - Number 2 for me
Wilson - get rid to anyone
Moore - He will be gone
MVE - needs to sort his shit out
Burroughs - I think theres a player there
Thomas - in the air hes Maldini. On the floor he's sometimes Kevin Malaga
Kitching - good player
Latibeaudiere- jack of all trades. Master of none
Binks - cant see him staying
Bidwell - will be off and i dont see why
DaSilva - shite
Torp - good player
Sheaf - best player
Eccles - just never seems to push on does he? Fine as a squad player
Kelly - will be gone
Allen - will be gone
O'Hare - will be gone but id let him rot now the leagues over. Try get your prem move now ballbag
Palmer - one minute hes messi, the next hes just messy
Tats - fantastic player
EMC - Great rep lets see
Wright - i still think he will be a very good player for us and he's a lot better than Simms
Godden - Will be gone
Simms - utter dross, stealing a living
Tavares - will be gone

A lot of people are saying we can give it a 'proper go' next season. My response to that is can we? Really? Hence the above. We STILL need major surgery to give it a real go.

For me its crucial that Vik moves on this summer. £12 million could get us the striker, O'Hare replacement and LB we so sorely need

If he doesn't, well. I fail to see whos going to bring us any serious money in from a sale
don’t think we’re that far off, look at west brom they’ll be comfortably in the play offs, if we had sheaf and sakamoto fit last night that’s a completely different game, don’t think we’ll be good enough for automatics next season but don’t want us scrapping for the last play off spot either , we want to get to luton level when they went up in 3rd, but your right, we’ll need a lot more players than what we’re probably planning for,

At least Robins saw what most of us did in that we were too light in the wide positions. When Hull’s loanee army tear this side a new one it might bring the message home to King.

For how much we have spent we really shouldn’t be struggling for depth.
But when their loanee army all go back and they don't go up then they turn in to Middlesbrough

We would benefit more from simply having specialist players for those positions instead.

Bit OTT.

I’m annoyed with how Robins is currently setting us up but before the last two first half horror shows we’d lost a couple in 20 odd games FFS which inc draws v Leeds and Southampton and beating Leicester. There’s been a massive squad overhaul in two windows and I’d be shocked if we don’t get some more changes in the summer but let’s not start having a meltdown

And if they do go up? The 08/09 season for us should be a warning. Good group of talented young players, Coleman spaffed the playoff challenge, stagnated the next season and the rest is history.

You can’t just assume we will have the same opportunity next season.

This forum 🤣

A few bad results and now we need to make one of our best players rot in the reserves just to really make sure we don't make the playoffs, for having the temerity to leave when his contract is up.

Unfortunately I think Sheaf will leave in the summer. He's too good for us let's be honest.

I think the club ultimately is on a different path from then
Better manager of course, but that season SISU like King were fine for money to be invested into permanent signings. Then it fell away and they turned off the tap.

Not saying that’s what will happen again but the point is you can’t take good seasons for granted.

Can't disagree with much of that. I'd give Simms another go next season, he's still fairly young and has time to improve. The coaching staff need to work massively on his first touch, and his need to want to smash the fuck out of the ball when he is shooting. Real lack of composure sometimes.
It's his balance which is the problem, his first touch is poor because he's invariably off balance. He needs work on his foot movement when he's going to receive the ball, where to put his standing foot.

Fair, but we needed an upgrade on Kelly anyway.
Personally I’d rather have Latibeaudiere here next season than Kelly, for example. He’s a very useful player to have as a way to plug holes where needed, which is not to say I want him starting every week in a different part of the pitch.

You mean we need to coach him how to stand, put one foot in front of the other and then kick the round thing properly. Great.

I think apart from a few morons Simms has been cut a great deal more slack than others. Think it’s because of what we were expecting v what we are seeing there is almost a desperation to believe he is better than he is. I’m sure when HMS piss the league was going on pre season we didn’t think we would be here bigging up the odd flick on or praising the completion of a rudimentary pass
