I think it would depend what you mean by modern. I think Ron Farmer is the best, certainly since the war. I think Gary MacAlister also only missed one for us?

I'd say you're right- Dion. But I don't recall Kilcline missing too many?

My favourite penalty ever was by Killer actually- 88/89 v Arsenal & they were heading for the title, we won a penalty in the 1st half and he missed it. Then we won another late in the game- whole ground hushed & oozing excitment & nerves as we all realised Kilcline was going to have another crack at it- he stepped up and smashed it home- that took nerves of steel.

I love how Killer blasted them. Don't think the keeper dare get in his way.

The only ones I remember him missing were when he tried to place them- remember one v Norwich when they'd had Gunn sent off and I think Mark Bowen was in goal, he looked tiny- Killer decided to try and place it in the corner and missed it.

Gary McAllister has to be up there right? I think I read he only missed one for us and I seem to remember him taking a lot of them.

I think that was against Walsall first game of the season, 0-0, smashed it against the post in front of the WT.

Was it Suffo or Stern John that seemed to miss every time?

He took one of the worst penalties I’ve ever seen during the Coleman era.

The best penalty I ever saw against us was Stuart Pearce, I'm gonna guess 1994/1995 (the day when my favourite player of all time, Brian Borrows, was drafted over to Centre Half and had Collymore in his back pocket all day, an immense performance)- it was the only time I ever saw the ball hit the top of the West Stand- not the west end, mind- the actual stand roof. Pretty sure you can see that on youtube.

The worst was Sammy sideways - his run up was in line with the goal line scuffed it and missed on the lhs - cant remember who it was against - edit was Swansea lost 0-1 Clingan took over from McSheffrey who had skied the previous one

He missed once against Arsenal I think and then scored another and there was a game where the keeper saved one and he scored the follow up with some kind of bicycle kick - Wimbledon?

That was the game I did kick 4 cash. Bought an iPad nano with the winnings.

You got it- Vinnie Jones was furious that he was allowed to knock in the rebound, then later on we were treated to one of Speedie's fantastic lobs- my favourite one of all in fact

I thought Dion missed at least a couple (and the QF spot kick). Always hit it in the same spot if I remember - keeper's left.
