Who is responsible for the maintence of the Ricoh Arena? (1 Viewer)

When walking around the stadium yesterday and the concourse it made me question the state of the stadium and clearly little maintenance has taken place since it's build and is well overdue.
Could this be another reason why ACL and the council were eager for a deal? Looking at the structure and all the steel work it's like the fourth bridge. It needs serious work and that's a lot of steel and a lot of cost. Everywhere you look maintenance and repairs are required.

Funnily enough was talking about this yesterday. It's not just that repairs are needed, the external areas have never been so unkempt and scruffy - it never gets cleaned up. There is a beer can at the bottom of the steps that lead up to the Jag Hall (by the roundabout) that no word of a lie has been there since before we went to Northampton. I'm tempted to pick it up but I am interested to see how long it can go before somebody at ACL decides it might be a good idea to clean the place up a bit.

Was it the trust on about going down to clear it all up or just a random group of fans?

I wonder what the Posh rugby boys thought of the toilets? They're pretty disgusting most of the time.

Makes sense, if it all goes wrong, I imagine they liquidate ACL....

Would be interesting to know what happens in the event of ACL / Wasps administration or Wasps defaulting on a loan payment. No doubt we won't be told that as it will be declared confidential.

What chance the Ricoh is built on the San Andreas Fault?

Nick, try not to blame us for this one, not our responsibility.

funny enough, yesterday was the first time I had actually seen anyone cleaning in the concourse at a game.

that is why I asked, as I can remember people going on about getting together and going down and giving things a cleanup?

You have already said who is responsible for the up keep of the Ricoh, ACL.

I wasn't saying the Trust or KCIC were responsible for the upkeep of the Ricoh? I was saying there was some talk of some fans taking it upon themselves to go down and give it a cleanup.

So why bring the Trust into the thread then?

Because I was asking if it was the trust who were talking about doing it, you said no, I said ok I was mistaken it must have been another group or a random group of fans.

I am not sure of your point?

When we left after yesterday's match there were lots of people in ricoh arena fleeces with cleaning equipment, after seeing how quick they addressed the pitch situation I would assume they will get the stadium maintenance in shape as well.

Helped organise a charity collection at the city match yesterday. Some of the guys collecting have not been to the Ricoh for a while and I gave than the outside tour . We were all disappointed and shocked to walk round the whole stadium and to see what a shit hole it was. This is lack of maintenance by ACL not our football club.
weeds everywhere rubbish and overflowing skips near turnstiles. In fact the stewards decided to clear a lot of the rubbish away themselves ( fair play Wes and the lads) otherwise it could have been a hazard.
I was there again today (charity opportunity) around 11.30 and a lot of the rubbish had been cleared . But the stadium looks tired and needs a refurb . Lots of city fans going in , but not a Rugby fan so left at kick off.

Having the responsibility for the maintenance of a stadium is the problem with owning one (or owning the lease to one), if you own a football club operating on little income it's best to get a cheap rent and leave the expensive repairs to others.

Think a lot of people who went in not Rugby fans but it was a good day Tommy, noticed Sandra Garlic going in and pretty sure she is not a fan.
Hope the collection went well.

The underpass by the railway line into tesco is a disgrace, it was flooded, slippy and poorly lit, i saw one woman trip as the steps are hard to see. There was rubbish and old signage strewn around the perimeter not a great advert?

They will probably have there own built with padded seats and somebody to pass you a towel to dry your hands but will be locked for our games to keep the oiks out!

She should sue ACL.

Don't think the underpass is the responsibility of ACL I think that's down to the council.

As for the upkeep of the stadium I believe Wasps have said they will be repainting and cleaning it up in the close season.

They must have called here in for some expert advice on the colour of the new curtains.

No I believe she was their to have a look at how to run a stadium properly and to see what her gaffers at Sisu passed up:facepalm:

Eastwood actually brought this very issue up at the SBT open meeting he addressed. He is aware of the problem but I think his line was something like "we can't solve it overnight".

I guess the pitch & dressing rooms have taken priority.
