"Last season doesnt count"

Why, when you were melting down at the start of last season, didnt you bring up the results from the end of the previous season?

Same as trying to throw last seasons transfer spend in with this season, it's hilarious to be honest

Because the patterns weren't the same?

Yes, last season's transfer spend on players we still have now. 🤣

I think people are trying too hard to blame someone or something in particular for a bad start to the season

It boils down to this - We have a squad of footballers who are way more capable than being sat 21st in the League which are underperforming, the management and players have to own it and find their way out of it, it’s on them, the only way it changes is by working through it and winning football matches

Patterns?! Fuck me. If you're looking at patterns why not look at the pattern of the last 2 seasons when we had similar starts to this season? Or does that not fit the agenda?

And have all the other teams sold everyone they bought pre 23 24 or have they also retained some of those players ?!

Unless you can work out a formula that works out the two season spend of every team throwing out stats about spend is meaningless. And you probably need to throw players lost into that equation which I'd imagine is fairly significant in our case.

You're twisting things to fit your agenda, it's ridiculous.

Has to be down to the manager/ coaching staff, when hamer first came he spent more time suspended than playing, we turned him into what he is now, gykores couldn’t hit a barn door neither could o hare, both left us much better players, theres a cov unseen where robins is giving bassette advice, just wondering who actually gets the blame for players not performing, manager or coaches ?

I’d of thought robins has a big input into the forwards during training,

The issue for me is one of experience. We don't have that player who is the glue, the one who can instruct players on the pitch, slow the game down or beat a player to make a pass. Robins can scream his lungs out from the side and the coaches can be the very best in training but when the shit hits the fan we don't have that person on the pitch to guide those around him. If one of those midfielders or defenders had the game and man management you will see if Fadz plays on Tuesday then we wouldn't be in this position.

Is that actually what happened?

Our form was dog shit at the second half of the season last year too, even with the old setup.

The whole thing has been wrong since the play offs. Key staff not replaced. Key personalities among the players not replaced.

Its twisting things to point out we have about 50m of players in our squad or that what's happening now was pretty much happening after about march?

Yeah it's like the pattern that our right hand side is completely wide open. Shame that the Swansea and Leeds manager noticed this but ours didn't.

Of course it's twisting things. What are other squads worth using the adding up two seasons worth of signings method? It's just nonsense.

As for our right hand side, it's awful, as is our left. That is Robins job to sort out.
But he sorted out the poor start last season, and the season before, so I'm happy to leave it to him this season.

Our right hand side used to be our strongest,Mve and sakamoto, thats what we need to go back to

Its hardly nonsense.

Of course its nonsemse, what if everyone else has spent more?
I know they haven't but I also know we're not top 6.
The year we got to the play offs we would have been well outside of the top 6.

There are so many variables that to pluck these figures out of nowhere is over simplistic nosense.

I'm not talking about everybody else when I say we have a squad we have paid around 50m for and robins has no idea what system to play, which players to play and how he can cram Lati in still.

So why mention the money we've spent if you're not taking into account what others have spent?
It doesn't make sense.

It makes me laugh reading all of the "doug does what he wants, Robins didn't want any of this", "it's all Dougs fault" "it's the performance director" and the rest of it.

Are we seriously saying a woman who was in a very high profile role before joining us and was thought of by many in the footballing world to be an incredible appointment for the club, and a man who's put 50 odd million into the playing side of the club and essentially modernised and brought the rest of it back up to the modern standard.. is WORSE than Joy and Sisu? Behave.

Sure no doubt Doug has got stuff wrong, and it may be true that he and Dr Roberts pushed for a more expansive coaching team rather than just a number 2, but it's what most top clubs have.

I'm not saying Doug is absolved of all blame, but it's hardly entirely his fault.

Not one person has said King and Roberts are worse than Joy and sisu.

Another one making things up in there own mind, it must be fucking contagious!

No, I'm not saying people have outright said it.

I'm saying that reading what people are saying you'd think that's the case.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the fact we had sisu here is the very reason we should be overly suspicious of King or any owner.
Once bitten and all that.....

There is absolutely no chance we have spent 50 million on players , can we please stop this inane diatribe?
We've probably spent 20-25 up front with the baulk of the rest in add ons

Prior to joining us Clair Roberts was head of elite development for the premiere league for nine years ,her role was to assist clubs in developing "home grown players".
Doug King may have very limited football knowledge/wisdom but I think it's unfair to attach that label to her tbh.
As far as I'm aware Mark Robins actually does have two number two's Mark Delaney & John Dempster are the "senior coaches" out of the team of five. And Mark Robins was very much part of the process of appointing them
Two completely different things, working for the PL it's miles away from a team playing in a competitive league, I mean what was she even accountable for?

I’d argue their performance would be a lot better if they had a consistent set up, formation and general motivation.

I ask again - who is in control of that? Who picks the team, motivates and gives the instructions.

which of Delaney, Boateng and Roberts controls that
The team set up doesn't just happen on the day, or at least shouldn't. You can't decouple training from the match day. We're going to be in the weird position of nobody really being accountable for anything.

Going to drift into the realms of conspiracy theory slightly here - we never advertised for an ‘Assistant Manager’, I think it was termed ‘Head of Coaching’. To me, that’s a Head Coach. Is the reason we didn’t proceed with this appointment due to the fact that their remit would significantly overlap with Robins’ remit? Has the structure already been built with the expectation Robins will leave before long?

Would also marry up with Saddle’s “enough rope to hang himself” comment.

It feels a bit like King is all the gear and no idea with his new hobby. Perhaps Robins hasn't handled him as well as he could have?
I would strongly suggest the exact opposite, a hugely successful businessman will know a lot about infrastructure and building a successful venture away from the pitch .
My guess is Clair Roberts was recruited to oversee what he doesn't know a lot about .

It’s not though is it, it’s a proven success hence why most sides at our level and the one above run it the same way.

I don’t want Robins to go, I’m frustrated like everyone is. But he needs to jump on board and adapt to the set up and concentrate on motivating this side. I think he’s got these two home games, he gets 4 points he stays.

agreed there’s something inherently wrong - but it isn’t the structure we’ve got in place there’s clearly a disconnect with the players. Robins has to get to the international break and get to the bottom of it
It isn't proven success is it? It might be coincidental to success

Are there many assistant managers in the modern game ?

Lots of successful businessmen and women have made complete dogs dinners of running football clubs.
