yep, he played there a lot for Hearts.

He's not a winger, but can play there.

He's prob best suited as the right sided player in a front 3

hopefully the losing mentality around the club will have gone with the players that have departed

Brown also played DM for Man Utd reserves...

How about:

MURPHY
CLARKE Edge Malaga Kilbane
GermanTrialist Brown Fleck
Ball Elliot BrazilianTrialist

?

I think we have managed to assemble an average 3rd div.team that should finish midtable for the next couple of seasons.:thinking about:

I think there was more than one fan who was looking forward to a bit of an overhaul of a relegated team and seeing what we could build again in the lower division. Probably fewer who envisaged a glut of new signings (free or otherwise) over the summer. And your guess is probably as good as ours, Digger (assuming you have seen relatively few of the new signings play that much football).

I have said we should get rid of everybody a numbr of times on here (I also included the whole backroom staff in that comment). Given where we are now and the changes we have seen then my wish has almost been granted.

This is the only way IMO. :)

I really think some people overrate the standard of league one. Whilst some of our players are unknown quantities we appear to be assembling both a strong and well balanced squad. I'm a big fan of thorn and think he was shat on last year but with what we've got we should be competing for promotion, no excuses

So far so good but lets see what it looks like come the end of the transfer window when all that can be sold have gone and some other freebies come in - I expect it might not look quite so good then but agree it should be good enough to compete at this level

cant understand how peeps think league one will be easy not a chance every game will be like a cup match for most of the other teams

agreed, i can see the Yoevil team talk now......

"right lads, 1st game of the season, against the mighty Coventry City. Keep an eye out for their 2 strikers. They have the young lad from derby who has scored 3 times in 3 years, and Cody mcdonald who scored 4 times last year. If they dont score, Roy O'Donovan will come on and he's bagged one in his last 27 games. They have 2 untried french guys at the back and no natural width, so push them outside", etc etc

Whatever happens next season, we certainly wont be the Man City of the league !

I'm not underestimating league 1 - fully expecting a shock first couple of games. But, for the first time in years, I'm going into a season with some genuine confidence (reserved albeit)

Just because we added to the squad is no reason to believe any of these will be in the starting 11?

Cameron, Wood, Bell, Baker, O'Donavon and plenty more are still here and at this level will be ahead of some of those new signings.

The squad looks fitter and stronger overall.

Misplaced confidence could ridicule us.

Respect, determination and resolve, for when the going will undoubtedly get tough - from us fans, as well as the players.

We mustn't lose sight of the end prize; I hope we start steadily, and build throughout the campaign, and don't get despondent when we have a 'blip'.

I see what you're saying, but I couldn't care less about giving these teams respect! We've over-respected the opposition for years, it's time to kick lumps out of them! They have to start believing they can compete against these other teams!

Then what would the point be in bringing them in if they aren't going to be in the starting 11?

For a start Malaga will probably step into Keogh's place. I could see him partnering either Wood or Brown for the first few games as the Edge maybe isn't as ready as Malaga is...

Kilbane will be in the centre of midfield come the opening game...he's here to provide stability and a commanding presence in the middle, something Clingan was incapable of doing.

Fleck will also be used as it seems they're building a team which suits Fleck down to the ground...

As for Ball, He'll probably be on the bench and if it is Cazarine they're bringing in and he's got a good goal scoring boot on him then it could be Cody & Cazarine up front.

It would just be stupid to think none of these guys would end up in the starting 11...

Agreed...

Also Cameron & Bell are both injured with Cameron not an option until after Christmas (mentioned on here) & Bell probably wont be ready until a few weeks into the season...

Wood and Hussey may be sold to balance the wages as they only have a year left on their contracts...

As for Baker i think he will play & I'm thinking O'Donovan will find himself pushed out if we get two (or three) more strikers before the transfer deadline so your assessment seems very invalid :D

Though i agree the squad is looking fitter, considering its mostly a brand new squad with only a few left overs from last seasons relegation team!

Oh and in answer to this

...and plenty more are still here and at this level will be ahead of some of those new signings.

What plenty more?? Are you refering to the development squad by any chance? Didn't you see what happened to Bigi and Christie etc. They couldn't last the whole season and either burned out or faded away...would you like that to happen to our talent thats at the club this season...

The new signings are here to make sure this doesn't happen! Sure the young'un's will feature, probably get the odd starting 11 appearance, more subs but most of the guys who are being brought in will have regular places to make sure we don't over stretch our development squad!

As it stands, I should imagine the team sheet at Yeovil will look something like this......

------------------Murphy--------------------
Clarke----Malaga----Brown------Kilbane
Baker-----Fleck----Thomas---McSheffrey
------------Elliott-------Ball-----------------

Subs: McDonald, Bell, Edejenguele, Cameron, Dunn

I can see Wood being sold (if we get a bid in) & Hussey (if we are offered c.300k)

I was one of those that wanted a whole new squad. Not impressed with the signings but willing to give them time, think we should have gone down the route of building a solid core of league one players with more spent (wages) on goalscorers and wingers.
