And i mentioned that if we ever get it lifted we will have no players to pick up. Whats your point? I realise he wanted to play for us but you cant wait around for ever.

Bloody hell this is hard work. Why do you keep wanting me to make my point, however I will make it again

The article is all about how AT has identified his top free transfer that he wants to sign, the free transfer has according to the article said he wants to come to us. We have a transfer embargo. The article says as a result of this transfer embargo the player has had to go somewhere else and not his preferred destination us (where he would be working under Andy Thorn)

Your reply to this

Sigh. It shows that we really are between a rock and a hard place. There will be nobody left by time transfer embargo gets lifted if it gets lifted. Best of luck to him at swindon. Cant blame a lad for putting his future first and working with paulo Di Canio seems more attractive than working with Andrew Thorn.

My point is, nowhere is the article does it suggest, imply or in anyway or form mention that part of Collin's rational was that he found working with Di Canio more attractive than working with AT

I agree with everything you said apart from the bit in bold. Which having read this article I cannot see how you have come up with this. Hopefully you now see my point :)

Won't be a stroll in the park but most clubs would kill for some of the players we still have. Yes we need to add to it, and add to it well, but the core of a good league 1 team is already there. It will all come down to the embargo being removed and getting some bulk to the squad. If that doesn't happen who knows where we could be. We may at times not be able to field a complete team/squad.

Completely agree, without this bulk, it will be like last season.
Have our strongest 11 out there and we will do the business.
Once we get a few injuries to the above mentioned players it will all fall apart.
Need that bulk, not untested kids only.

Surely no-one really believes this is going to be a stroll in the park, even if AT is given money?

Show me anywhere that anyone has said it will be a walk in the park.

AT will not be given money to spend. Fact.

If we are allowed to strengthen with a few free signings we will have a decent chance. Otherwise our squad will not be big enough. Our squad will be too lightweight up front. We need at least one striker that can score goals, not another Platt. We need creativity in midfield. We need to keep our defenders. If we get these and don't have a good season then AT needs to go. Otherwise we have as much chance being top half as we do bottom. We have good players for this division. We just don't have enough.

That was said more in tounge and cheek, i realise the player wanted to play for Coventry as its his club but my comment was simply that Di Canio is a name unlike Thorn. I realise that he would have liked to come to Coventry its mnore that Di Canio is a nice fall back for him. I dont see why you have taken such offense out of this comment. I am agreeing with your point that SISU being slow and incompetent have cost us a transfer target. I am as unhappy about this as anyone.

Absolutely no offence taken at all :)

I could not undertand the Di Canio comment, hence my reply to your post.

IMO opinion your comment suggests on top of the embargo factor, it gives the impression that the pull of Di Canio over Thorn, was also a factor. I was making the point that this is not mentioned anywhere in the article.

You kept asking me what my point, was so I kept explaining that it was the Di Canio bit that I did not get.

No offence at all taken and I hope none caused. Just friendly debate ;)

Astute, how can you say AT won't be given money as a fact? no-one knows that as a fact (more than likely but not fact)
As for stroll in the park ok no-one has actually said that, but some do think we will do well if we got a few more players, how many is a few more?
Are we talking half a team or more? we know thats not going to happen, some have been saying some of the players that we have will do well in this league, I just can not see this happening thats my opinion, I think the whole ethos of the club is wrong and it needs a massive shake up from top to bottom and a few kicks up some arses and reality checks for the lot of them.
Thats my opinion and people don't have to agree but I just can't see a change even with a few more bodies in the squad, the losing mentality and attitude is there.

We were desperate for loans last season to help keep us up. We never got enough and also a bit late. We are not paying the rent. We have an embargo. All of this tells me we will not spend any money.

We do have good players for Div3, but we don't have enough. Nobody has said that we will do well this season without signings. This is less than the walk in the park you mentioned.

A new division and new players would have the losing mentality gone. The losing mentality went towards the end of last season as well...that was until we ran out of fit players :(

This is my opinion. It will not be far off the mark. I have not lived in Cov for about 20 years. I have seen some of the shite football we will be up against.

Does anyone want to name some of the good players we will be up against next season? Do it without cheating. I used to live between Grimsby and Scunny. Watched both of them play. Each side was shite when they went up. It don't take a lot to go up from Div3. Without some decent free signings I am not confident, but it wouldn't take a lot to make us one of the best teams in this division. Still not a walk in the park, but nowhere near as bad as some make it out to be. Just wait for the season to start and reality hits home on how poor a lot of teams and squads are.

I'm sure we all dream of working for a mental Fascist at some stage in our career. It's why I joined local government!
