Who would you retain in this current squad? (1 Viewer)

Been racking my mind thinking who I'd actually keep from this team come the summer or who I'd be actually arsed about if they left, the bothered about keeping list is rather short. Maddison is the only player I'd be truly disappointed to lose, which given he has only started 4 games about sums it up. There's a couple of others who may turn into decent players: Phillips has done okay in patches, Haynes looks okay going forward but is woeful defensively and the goalkeeper looks okay after a very shaky start. I haven't seen enough of Finch or Thomas so I can't comment. I'd keep O'Brien; he's been extremely poor in patches this season but does on his day look capable at this level and he chips in with a goal here and there. Johnson is clearly a good player but is never fit so I'd get shot.

5 players that is that I actually reckon are worth keeping, 4 of whom are kids. I haven't included loan players as they're either shite or I reckon we've got no chance of getting. Mowbray has a massive job on, he needs money from Sisu and he needs to be allowed to bring in the back room staff he wants. I think we need 10 - 11 players minimum this summer.

I'll add Willis to that, I think at this level, and as he can play at either centre back or full-back he's a decent squad player.

I honestly reckon he needs a big clear out and that means Reda as he's injury prone.Jackson,Tudgay,Martin,never add much to the squad so they can leave too in my opinion. I'd keep Burge as he's coming on slowly but surely,and I know he can send you mad at times but Barton deserves one more season just to see if he really has got it in him.
Fleck I like and of course Ward and Maddison are talented players and will get better I feel.But we need some experience coming in or it could be another season of frustration and disappointment.

Telegraph ran a poll the other week asking the same, asking fans to choose who they'd keep, send back (loans), offer new contract etc. not sure if the results have been published yet.

I like your Reda pay as you play offer sounds sensible. As for Adam Barton he is a strange one to call but there is something in there I reckon but if it ever comes to the surface is another thing !

Job is a must for his endeavour.

The misconception is you get rid of players as they only perform at the level they are capable of.

Martin - if you get rid of him another Martin will come along.

I'd keep him and O Brien and Willis. If no one wants fleck I guess he's another average league one player. Sign stokes on the assumption he is cheap.

Madison keep. Can't believe anyone would offer Barton a deal. Johnson may be worth a gamble. Swanson may have a career with a real manager.

Get rid of the rest including Burge and Haynes possibly on loan for a season to a conference side.

Midfielders: Pay as you pass forward
Strikers: Pay as you score
Manager: Pay as you win

The only player I'd be sad to lose is maddison. Obviously would like to get samuel and ward back, but the rest can go for me.

If we line up in August with JOB, Fleck and Barton as 3 of our midfield 4, you can right off promotion.

Charles-cook maybe? Give Swanson and stokes a pre-season plus maybe nouble?

Webster, Thomas,Miller,Jackson,,Al Burgna , Barton, Martin and all the other loans can go

we need another goalie, 2 new CB's if Pennington doesn't come in, new LB, new RB? another 2 wingers, 3 new cm's (2 if we get ward) , 3 new strikers and that should be an alright squad- 22 players- not including possible pre-seasoners.. Thats another huge turnover so can only see a season of struggle

Keep them? Depends on what you want out of them.

If you are happy in relegation scraps keep them.

If you want to progress and get promotion they all need to go.

(I have left acadamey players out of this, thought process) Maddison etc.

The first teamers have proved over a season they dont cut the mustard. Get rid clean sweep. Look at the likes of Preston they were struggling not long back. Now look at them.

I'd defo keep Reda. He's what we've been missing for years, a bit of nastiness, bite, aggression. We've been a powderpuff side since Boothroyd. Obviously needs to play more games but he's such a talisman when he's on the pitch #RedaJohnsonBaby

We need to look at how we loan players too. Loans are essential for clubs such as ours but they need to be season long and these emergency ones a last resort in an injury crisis. How many players have come through the revolving door in last 2 or 3 years on loan? We all know the owners have no interest in putting money in but guys like Tudgay, Jackson, Johnson, Swanson, and Nouble would be on relatively good salaries, we've got to spend that money better next season.

He has had a full length contract to improve! The fact he is playing more regularly now is not because he has got better, more the fact we have become a lot worse!

Completely agree, if we go into next season with a midfield 4 where 3 are fleck, job and barton, you might as well give up on promotion before its started.

Might be surprised how many players Tony Mowbray keeps, I think it's a cert he will keep Johnson if he can and try to bring back Samuels, Ward and Pennington. Most if not all the youngsters will stay plus Willis, Phillips, Fleck and Stokes. I think the German, Webster and Martin will be surplus and perhaps O'Brien. along with Pugh, Swanson, Miller, Jackson not sure about or Tudguy for that matter and as for Al Burgna we ain't seen him yet so how can we judge him ?

I'd like to keep some of the kids on the basis that they have potential (Maddison, Phillips, Haynes and Burge spring to mind) but to be honest there's nobody else I'd be particularly bothered if they left.

Equally there's players I wouldn't object to keeping such as JOB but if TM wants to get rid I wouldn't be fussed.

Think that says a lot about the quality of the squad this season and how they've performed!

Lets be honest we would hardly miss any of them but unless sisu give Mowbray or any other manager about a million quid to bring in a load of new players he will still have to work with a lot of what he has here. .I reckon in cash to invest he will be lucky to get a quarter of a million and it costs money to get rid of players, but I also think he (TM) will get a lot more from a lot of these current players. He's a proper manager.

Of those who are out of contract I'd like to see us keep hold of Johnson (on the right terms..), Willis & George Thomas. If one of Nouble/Tudgay was retained I wouldn't be too perturbed but personally think we can do better elsewhere. Other than the young lads the rest (Barton, Pugh, Miller, Stokes, Jackson, Webster) can then disappear.

If there's any way of getting Pennington, Samuels and Ward back I'd look into that too.

I'd keep all three but I wouldn't start them all. New cm to play alongside Fleck/Barton and then two new wingers to rotate with O'Brien
