My point is we don't know though do we ?
We have invested in both Rodrigues and Bassette and they have been with us all season getting up to speed . Both start making the bench and making cameos then we sign Paterson who struggled for a poor side in the MSL and was always going to take time to get up to speed . Once we signed Grimes he just seemed an odd signing .
I sincerely hope I'm proven wrong but I like to see youth given a chance over a potentially "deadwood" signing

That wasn't the point I was trying to make . It's rather why spend so much of the season getting him up to level required only to sign a journeyman ahead of him ?

We brought him in when we couldn't bring in any player under contract. Waste of a wage for a few months at worst. An insurance policy for a few positions if our injury problems get worse. He isn't match fit but he is experienced.

Bassette is nowhere near good enough at the moment. He needs to go out on loan to League One next season.

Rodrigues could do with a loan and regular mens football as well.
Lampard seemed to actually really rate him as well in recent comments, but he's obviously not going to feature for us anytime soon
