Zzzzzz no results matter but ours with 20 odd games to play

And I suppose there is no difference to us between two clubs going on a good run til the end of the season against no clubs putting a good run together meaning we need less points for promotion.

Other results do matter. If we win every single one of our remaining games we could still end up third behind Burton and Walsall.

Zzzzzzzzzzz all results matter but some more than others. The results of our promotion rivals give us an indication of their current form and they affect the table spots around us.

Yep. Depending on how other teams do the champions of this league may need 95 points or they may only need 84 points.

Other results don't matter only if we feel so confident we are going win nearly all our games and are going to be really consistent for the remainder of the season.

Let's face it, we are not THAT good and will take all the help that's going.

I like many others, will be keeping a very keen eye on how our rivals are doing. Could mean the difference between our being top and our being in the play-offs.

Do you think Leicester aren't looking at what other teams are doing? Middleborough? Brighton? Derby?

Could be said Leicester were only top because of the failures of other teams.

After 20 games this season Leicester have 40 points. After 19 games last sesosn Chelsea had 46 points.

How other teams do is very relevant. We play a game before all the rest of the league and draw, we would say that is probably not a good result. All our rivals lose their subsequent matches though and suddenly that's a point gained.

Yes, it is relevant.

We have only lost once in 16/17 games, albeit we have drawn probably too many games so that proves we are hard to beat. The jury is out for me with regards to finishing in the top 2 but I think we will finish in the top 6 at the very least.

I think we will really know how good we are after the Southend game. If we come away with 7 points out of 9 then I think it'll prove we are good enough for the top 2.

I'd always like a 0-0 draw between our opposition because it takes a point out the table and doesn't do anything to their goal difference.

Ah, not bothered really. Ideally a 0-0 would have been good but it wasn't going to happen. If there was to be a winner out of the two I'd rather it was Wigan. Good game to watch though.

Anyway, with TM we make our own luck.

Thanks to Wigan we now have the best goal difference in the league.

That's true and the goal difference might be vital come the end of the season. I hope it isn't and we're already promoted, but just in case....

Third time I've written this post as keeps disappearing. So thus will be a brief version.

My theory for many years is the number if defeats and goal difference is the best indication where a team will eventually finish. During the season fixtures and other factors can distort true strengths or weaknesses if teams.

Coventry have joint fewest defeats an best goal difference. That to me us a very good sign.

I do admit out goal difference is exaggerated based on some huge wins rather than consistent comfortable 2 or 3 goal wins Gillingham rack up at home.

Also need to avoid throwing away seemingly won games like Swindon and Oldham.

Signs are good!
