Will People Cave In And Still Go And Watch City At Northampton? (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I really want Cov to play at the Ricoh like everyone else, but the thought of not seeing CCFC at the weekend breaks my heart.

I still have not decided if I will go to Northampton to see CCFC play or not. It's more the time thing for me as at The Ricoh I leave the house at around 2.15pm and are back home at around 5.15pm. I know if I did choose to go I wouldn't be able to make as many.

Do you think people will cave in and start going again as the season progresses? I'm of the opinion that people can do what they like and if they decide to go and watch CCFC at another stadium it's up to them.

Would the not one more penny campaign do more harm than good? I know it's complicated and am just trying to play devils advocate here.

I'm guessing a lot of people on here are saying they would never watch CCFC away from the Ricoh but may change their mind.

yes fans will get itchy feet very quickly I think but no where near the number of what we would have at the ricoh. I would expect no more than 3k though

Some muppets definately will.

But hopefully the majority will stay true and that way the sisu scum will lose :p

Without sounding like a know it all ;) , I think over the years I've learned to judge our fan base pretty well. I can tell when there will be a massive crowd and when there will be a tiny crowd.

So far we hear attendance predictions of anything as low as 800, up to 6k. I think the reality will be (excluding away fans) lowest of around 1000, up to around 3k.

A very large section of our support are adamant that they won't be going, and I see no evidence that they don't mean it.

The clubs owners have treated us like crap for at least 15 years, this is the final straw.

Never. Not sure I'll follow them away-they don't feel like my club in the slightest any more.

TBH Northampton is much closer for me than the Ricoh. I will go to watch Northampton play but noy City. It will hurt me for sure, but if we stick together it will hurt SISU even more. Watching Northampton, at least my money goes to a "local" footballing club.

In a word - NO

I have always been an opened minded individual, pretty neutral on almost everything until I reach a certain level of understanding &/or belief &/or feel that a decision is needed. I reached that point the day Otium were chosen. Once I make such decisions, I am every bit as resolute as Tim Fisher. Mark my words...I will never set foot in Sixfields to support a Coventry City FC team playing "at home"...unless a new owner comes in & states the intent to come Home again.

My opinion is that it all depends on what CCFC do regarding ticket prices and subsidised travel. If they put ticket prices at say £10 adults and £5 kids I think they may get the 3000 that Fisher has budgeted for especially on Saturdays. But higher ticket prices and midweek games I think that they will get more like 1500. I won't have a go about anybody going to Northampton to watch the club its all about personal opinion.... Myself I fell out with the club 2-3 years ago over the way it was ran, I go to some of the away games for a day out on the beer and this is what I will still do. Never been out in Northampton so may do the 1st Saturday home game!!!!

There are so many fans who have supported this club for decades who have watched us through thin and thinner, with one or two good days and that's all in this time, so I really feel these type of fans will not go to Northampton, and will not change their minds during whatever season we have, though its almost certain it will be a very difficult season again on the pitch anyway.

They have been through bad times after bad times and for some its the last straw and that will be them lost forever to the club. With them will go the younger support who go along with them and we all know loads of father/sons who go , who will stop as well.

This decision by SISU will not just affect the next 3 years of the club, it will affect it long term, perhaps a few decades even, as lots of supporters will be lost for the for-seeable future through anti SISU boycotts, and fans who have simply had enough and fallen out of love with the club, which there are many. On top of this, their sons/daughters will support another team when they start going to footie ,as they have no family allegiancie's to take into account. This decision affects the club for decades in an negative way not just the next 3-5 years

I remember my brother taking me in the 70`s to highfield rd and the last game against Derby before moving to the ricoh, have I heard right that we could still be deducted points at the start of the next season, the Northampton chairman today said this was not a done deal, word to the chairman, SAY NO!!!

Ditto NLHWC, really sad few weeks /months , and I wonder how many more fans feel like this, many hundreds even thousands I think

I think I'll even find myself making that horrible transition that Wimbledon fans experienced....actually wanting them to lose. My reaction to the Cyrus and Leon stories was a confused "good". I feel more conflicted than Vader when he struck out at The Emperor!

The Rev. absolutely hit the nail on the head when he said that this move outside Coventry will lose not only current but also future supporters. As for me...NO NO NO. I will never attend a Cov game outside of the city.

The point about "a lost generation of sky blue supporters" is valid. The ninth biggest city in uk without a football club!
The legacy of Sisu.

Trouble is, just think how we're all going to feel after a minimum of 3 years away.

We could all feel totally disenfranchised from the club by then and not even interested anymore.

Agree, it just wouldn't feel the same however if SISU had gone I would be willing.

If fans don't go then it's them that will 'kill' the Club, not the owners!

What crap.

Its Tim Fishers responsibility to provide the best way forward for ccfc, not mine . As paying customers we are giving Fisher advanced warning that if he moves the club, we won't go. Simple as that. Its his job to ensure enough people come through the gates by putting out a competitive team at a venue we want to go to.

What do you think a CEO is paid to do?

If he decides to ignore that advice, then him & sisu will kill the club.
