Building a ground at Woodlands? Utter rubbish. Something for the local press and this board to get excited about but anyone who believes that SISU will build a stadium anywhere is seriously deluded. Treating the supporters as fools-again.

Yawn....

they havent done it for this board to get excited about.

In the same way the trust doesnt represnt the fans, nor does this site.

A mod maybe able to confirm, but i would suggest 100-200 "regular" users at most, that cant be a cross section of a city of 300k +, let alone further a field.

If it is a PR exercise, its been done with two "customers" in mind, the FL and CCC. one to say "we are doing something" and the other to challange their recent statements

Honestly the number of wankers on here saying that they’ll be no stadium and NOT on the SISU statement thread is amazing.

Got fucking nowt to say on the council but fucking tons to say about SISU not building a stadium.

Total cocks.

Can’t we wait and see what happens before ridiculing the whole shebang?

I presume the very same knobheads were equally as vociferous when Bryan Richardson announced stadium 2000?

There is also a major new road being planned, from the A46 Warwick bypass near Dalehouse Lane, right throught to Stonebridge Island. Being built at the same time as HS2, as a lot of the earthworks, diversions etc are already in place.

I genuinely think the new stadium talk is just bollocks, no chance of it happening.

But the fucking council need to grow some balls and put this to the test, call their bluff to prove it. Someone has to blink first, we're the football equivalent of brexit.

You can’t blame us for being a bit sceptical, not exactly got a great track record have they, didn’t they move us to
Northampton whilst they built us a new ground and that was six years ago, they’ve had plenty of time to buy some land ? I said years ago the quicker wer’e out the Ricoh the better, I’d love to see us in our own ground in Coventry unfortunately I don’t think our wank council will let that happen, wer’e getting screwed from both sides

Exactly this, would love the council to come out now and say “ make us a bid for the land then “

Just been on the eastern green group on Facebook. (I lied earlier about being banned for comedic effect) And they are surprisingly receptive to the idea. There’s one with just over 100 comments and it’s about 60/40 in favour.

Depending on how they develop the site it could bring jobs, shopping, entertainment, etc. There are always positives to counter balance the negatives to the local area.

Much needs to be explained though. You can't take any of these chancers at their word.
Especially gven that we've heard so many different stories over the years, why only 3 months ago the Ricoh was plan A & there was no plan B.
1) How will it be financed so that the club isn't holding massive debt (like Wasps are)?
2) Who pays for road improvements?
3) Where is parking?
4) Site plan, what else goes on the site, what is lost/demolished, what additional facilities are expected to be provided?
5) Time frames?

You can demolish grade 2 buildings with permission from the local authority can't you?
When was the building put up? Grade 2 listing is not much of a protection. You can apply to de-list. It usually just means older than 1840 and was part of a general listing of old buildings done in 1978.(iirc). Depends on the historical significance, the surrounds and state of repair of the building, or so I was advised when I tried to get a building de-listed

All that will come. Let's just speculate and post gifs for now.

Here I've suprimposed the Ricoh (less jaguar hall /most of hotel / casino etc.) over part of woodlands site without even touching existing school buildings.

Really surprised they are listed, what is it with English Heritage treating Cov like a museum of post war shite? Some of our post war buildings are good but the Circular Market, the building opposite Drapers and Woodlands School, do me a favour!

Remember it well. We got moved to portacabins. One day, science teacher “mr hoy” saw someone through a window trying to steal a bike from the bike sheds. He opened the door and asked us to run after them. Cue 25 kids running towards a guy trying to cut a chain and steal a bike.

Imagine that these days
That just cracked me up. Was a former student there myself and remember Mr Hoy. Short, fat, bald little Irish fella we knicknamed ‘Penfold’

Show interest in a very unlikely site, to justify groundsharing to fans and EFL, also puts the council in an awkward position, pushing them to provide a favourable sale and support.
If the council call your bluff and help out so you actually end up having to bid. Use the land to justify selling Ryton.
If needs be consider using the money from Ryton to build an academy and training facility on the land. By which time (years of groundsharing). You get to see if Wasps crumble. If Wasps manage find a replacement for CCFC. Nothing lost, Sell the land for a profit now it has planning permission.
Could be a genius plan, bad side for us cov fans is years of groundsharing.

Yeah, but Brexit was 52/48 and look where that got us.

What's your point?

It will be interesting to see the details of any agreement between the Council & Sisu as we would not want it to be construed as "State Aid"
I am sure there will be locals asking why the Eastern Green green belt is having houses built on instead of the Woodlands site.

Regards.

Difficult to see how it would work well without additional infrastructure: malfunction junction no.2 has already been showing the signs of strain over recent weeks. I think the strain would be taken by folks' route into eastern green down pickford green lane/hockley lane, from the A45, or, when the pickford green estate is built, through the estate.

Can't help but be sceptical...given all that we have had in the past.
1. I agree with the earlier post - I cannot believe a hedge fund will build a stadium
2. If they agree rental at the Ricoh, this would be binned anyhow
3. If they don't agree rental at the Ricoh, we will lose more committed supporters while we are ground-sharing elsewhere...by the time everything is approved & scheduled-in, the stadium would probably be 10-12k capacity (think Bescot Stadium lines)...& all PL return ambition is pretty much out of the window

Totally agree FB. Yes we are all skeptical based on the history of SISU’s ownership, but let’s this play out before writing it off completely.
