Wheel of fortune contestants did this years ago when choosing letters for words, and it's basically the old Mastermind game with letter instead of colours.

There is a guy I was reading about who used a programme to play 20,000+ games of wordle and the best possible starting words (also of course as was completely randomised guessed a couple of them outright).

I never start with any specifics though and often start with different words, I simply attempt to use as many letters as possible in goes 1 to 4 and then have a semi guess on go 5 completing in 6. I have got lucky with the letters early a couple of times, but my way is 'almost fool proof' and I've completed it every time ... so far.
