World cup break - Good or Bad? (1 Viewer)

Personally feel it will do us good. We've been on a great run of form recently but our squad is paper thin, and really feel a good break for the lads will see us attack the second half of the season a lot more brightly than we started the first

Injury wise would we have anyone back? I think Kelly and Waghorn, but does anyone know regarding Godden and Dabo?

Could lose momentum, pre season all over again.

I'll tell you after we are back. If we get players fit again and retain the momentum then it will have been good. If we come back and start to struggle then it will have been bad.

How do I feel now - I'm on the fence

Good. Waghorn, Dabo & Kelly should be fully fit when we resume and as none of our players are involved in the WC, we should avoid any further injuries. Therefore, we'll have a stronger team and bench come mid December.

Bad.

Come at wrong time.

Would love to be continuing to play playing once a week now.

I get the injuries etc. But every team has them. We have still played less games than everyone.

Bad because the world cup wont be half as fun as this storming run!
As for injuries, O'Hare got injured on the last day of pre season!

Good for us. We have played so many games and picked up quite a few injuries. Good opportunity to prepare for the rest of the season with confidence high within the squad.

Bad for me.

Momentum is key.

Wonder if they'll have any games scheduled whilst in Spain or during the break? If they aren't playing for 2 weeks plus, they'll lose match fitness. But, it's the same for everyone I suppose.

Really cant see how it's good.

75% of the Division is low on confidence and ours is sky high and one of if not the form team over last 12 games.

Rather be playing Reading away and Swansea at home in next 2 weeks all day long.

Hard to say, it may hamper momentum but we have squeezed nearly half a seasons games in to condensed period, physically Im not sure we can ask for any more from the players.

Am I right in thinking we will have played 24/46 games by the time the window opens on Jan 1st?might actually be one more than that stage last season which is a bonus.

I'm pretty resigned to losing at least 1 key player come January so at least we have got to half way-ish before that drama. Also have the slim chance that during the break stadium and dare I even say it... club ownership may get sorted. if so we could be in a far better place

Waghorn and Kelly fully fit surely when we get back to it the date will be four weeks on not five years back😉

Why are Sunderland and Millwall playing on the 3rd a week before anyone else

Tricky one. Potentially bad as far as form is concerned however given all the off field nonsense it could be good if everything is sorted before the season starts again.

On the whole at this moment I feel bad.

Yes, there is the chance for certain players to recover from injuries and allows a bit of a break for them to do some proper recovery but we're playing well and disrupting that flow and momentum can't be good.

Then there is the possibility of us losing one or more of our star players in the Jan transfer window so it's an entire month where we won't get to enjoy them before that potentially happens. That month off also gives clubs/agents the chance to start arranging deals to be completed when the window opens.

There will be a few clubs: Newcastle, Blues, Leicester now they’ve hit some form, amongst many others who are currently riding the crest of a wave who will probably be dreading the break and I’d say we fall into that category

i wish we could carry on playing Saturday and Tuesday while we are in such god form, but i don't think it's a temporary thing, the players look extremely well drilled and are doing the basics so well. 3 weeks rest, no paintballing, back ready to go again. CCFC

Yeah there’s been some runs we’ve been on where it’s felt a bit lucky, but not this one. More reminiscent of the L1 run where we just looked like we’d stepped up a level.

It's bad clearly, confidence is high and in football you want to keep momentum going at times like this. Very Coventry City to have it interrupted by a World Cup that shouldn't even be there.

I’d say a good thing, it’ll be like a start to a new season. I think we won’t have our end of season dip as no one should really be lagging. E I E I E I O up the football league we go

It's bad,no doubts about it. Oggy said that perhaps privately MR will be happy to take stock, evaluate etc. But there's no denying winning runs like what we are on get you promoted. No one, and I mean no one, would want to play us right now.

The pros are your waghorns, dabos, kellys, goddens get closer to fitness for that squad depth and players like o hare who's just come back from the worst injury of his career can now rest a bit to ensure he hasn't burnt out.

Worst is no City now for a month

It can only be a good thing to have more players back and for others to have a rest after an intense run of fixtures. If there is a downside it’s fewer games for Gyo before January, but just hope that he is either retained till the summer or goes for a monster fee. Which if there is lots of interest, should trigger a bidding war and get us just that.

For me, I don't think it's a good thing. Obviously if it helps with injuries and fatigue, then that's fine. It's been a lot of games in a relatively short time for reasons we all know too well.

But, when you're confident and in form, I'm not sure how much you really feel the effects of fatigue. Confidence and adrenaline can do wondrous things to the mind, it really pushes you on and you don't really want to stop. especially for as long as this.

I'm sure we're more than capable of picking up where we left off, but no doubt it has the potential to act as a reset button.
