Worst ever referee? (4 Viewers)

I get it must be difficult for referees sometimes, I mean, the referee today might as well have just threw Josh Brownhill his whistle and told him to crack on with it. That being said, he was appalling. As always, I do not subscribe to conspiracies of some sort of plot against us, or that referees favour certain teams, he was just...shite.

What I do believe is that Burnley make themselves difficult to referee, and it requires very good refereeing. Today, he had a very bad game, and some of the decisions were baffling; the "foul" by Wright on Egan-Riley (?) early in the game, the yellow for MvE for being clattered into, no yellow for Anthony kicking the ball away when the ball was so far out of play it was practically on the A444, to name but a few

True, that's what let's us down. We aren't 'streetwise' and are certainly very soft when it comes to stuff like this.

I know it's cliché to always mention Michael Doyle but he was so good at letting the ref know he was making mistakes without being too aggressive. A little comment every time.

A lot of examples of this clown making shit decisions. I scrolled the first couple of pages and didn’t see reference to it…the one on Sakamoto where he blocked him off/shoved into him, right at the end of the first half. No attempt to go for the ball at all. In fact No where near the ball…no booking.

For those watching on TV.
Did any of the vitriol from the stands come across on the box?
Was pretty intense in the corner.

I sit in block 21 so like to think I had a decent view of it and to me it looked like an elbow into Sakamoto's face, he looked behind him, saw him coming and just lifted his arm and stopped. Could be mistaken, could have been a shoulder but it was clearly a yellow at the very least, possibly a red card and instead they got the throw in?

Ref was a joke, wasn't the reason we lost the game, but he should never be anywhere near the championship again after today, he was played from the first minute by Burnley and some of the fouls he gave were just laughable. Kinda summed up by Grimes in the post match.

I know we all hate VAR but honestly, if the refs keep up being as poor as this season, then it might be time for it in the Championship (along with stop clocking because 5 minutes injury time? After 5 subs and their timewasting...)

It needs to be used for clear and obvious errors as it was intended to be. Shit like Derby's second goal or EMC being fouled against Sunderland, not for judging someone to be a pube's width offside

He had a very difficult and indifferent game not helped by Burnley who are the masters of the dark arts. A poor display.

Was watching online as away and have to say the blatant cheating from them was horrendous, worst I have seen, we get used to goalkeepers time wasting etc but towards the end, every time their player jumped for the ball, they threw themselves to the ground and claimed and injury. Off one of our last corners, ball went out and keeper started berating players and went to talk to referee about being impeded and replay showed no player near him.

There is game management and then there is some of the worst cheats going and sadly, Burnley the worst ever but maybe says a lot about the amount of draws and how they have got to this position.

would love to play them in the play off final with Frank now more astute to what to expect

I said at the time if Sakamoto had gone down holding his face I reckon the ref would’ve had more of a decision to make. Instead he got straight up and carried on.

As soon as they scored they were eeking out minutes at every opportunity…taking extra long time on throws and goal kicks and that’s without the diving and the professional fouling. The ref did fuck all.

Sam Parkin on Sky declared that it wasn’t even a foul - just merely the sort of block that happens for 90 minutes all over the pitch ! 😮

Hmm. I don't mind him blocking Sakamoto off, that is not the issue.

Why is he at an almost complete stop, so not momentum, but he still moves his arm/elbow into Sakamoto?

Just an unnecessary cheap shot. Not a red, but how it's not a yellow when the referee has given it I have no idea.

Neither player are near the ball. Zero intent to win/shield it.

Nowhere near the ball. Stops his run to look straight at Sakamoto then throws his arm/shoulder into his face. It was so blatant the referee actually saw it (!) but inexplicably gave no card. Lino clear view as well but again made the wrong decision.
