I think we can all agree Saturday's performance off the field was admirable, the protest was fantastic yet again and was great to see the Notts County fans show their support. But as well as we did in the stands, I think we all agree the performance on the field was woeful. A lot of people I spoke to said it was one of the worst games they've ever seen, and that got me thinking. So for this weeks Cooks Question, we wanna know what the worst football game you've ever been to. Doesn't have to be a Coventry game, it can be any match you've been too. Will be very interesting to hear what people have to say. Remember, the show kicks off at 10AM Thursday so entries need to be in by 10.45AM that day to be in with a chance of being on the show. Didn't go to that game, but remember City fans being mad with the team for not showing the fight required for such an important game. I always think a night match when it's wet and cold with a small crowd. Combine that with a poor performance, is where a supporter gets really tested - we've all been there (but survived!)

I swear Charlton was a nice sunny saturday? :confused:

So going by that theory, Bristol last tuesday means we are super fans ;) (tongue in cheek) :D

Strange, we were celebrating that day, and laughing at Leicester, now look where we both are. Funny old game.

Just like when we got relegated with Man City :thinking about:

Saturday's was the worst I'd seen for a while. I remember areally awful 0-0 draw with Middlesborough at HR one boxing day, around 1980/81.

The 4-1 defeat at Shrewsbury last season was by far the worst city performance I have seen in 43 years.

I've witnessed so many it's hard to say which was the worst.Losing 7-1 at W.B.A. the brown kit one was bad.
Going to Wolves in the Cup early 70's quarter final huge City following and losing 3-0.losing to Crewe in the Paint trophy was a low point too.Everton thrashing us 6-0 at Highfield Road and 6-0 at Goodison in the Cup.But the Albion thrashing above in 78 was really woeful,so that would get my vote.

Well as its topical, one of the worst I can remember was as a kid, when in 1983 we lost 5-1 at HOME, to Notts County. It was horrific.

The JPT vs Crewe was hard to take, but we were all over them, they had like 4 shots to our 20+.

So I don't think it counts as a "worst game" IMO

Stockport away, first game of the season after we went down (not the result), just a heartbreaking reality check.

0-4 at Blackpool a few years back, late December on those open-air bleachers, Kyle off early. Followed his example and gave it up at 3-0.

A shocking 0-0 draw at home to Bradford one cold Tuesday Bonfires night at Highfield Road when they brought about 50 fans.

The only occasional highlight was cheering a firework going off over the tops of the stand.

Was it Bury last season at the Ricoh? Or maybe the season before? 2-0 up against a very poor Bury side and we could only draw?

Add to that all the games, especially the Shrewsbury game where Richard Shaw was in charge. They were all hard to watch.

Could fill a number of pages with this thread, having watched Cov for over 40 years but ones that spring to mind are Lge Cup 2nd Rd 2nd leg v Walsall lost 0-3 having won the away leg. Any match at Rochdale! Sutton Utd, Northampton, Palace at home in the Champ (0-4, 2-4) The 1-5 home and away v Notts Co! 0-0 v Bradford when we'd both been relegated and another 0-0 v Sheff Wed on a bitterly cold day when I was just wishing the game to end with about 20-25 mins to go. I'll stop there...getting depressed now!

0-0 against Reading at the Ricoh a few years back. It was my lads first ever game. Suffice to say he was more excited by the half time sausage roll than he was about the game.
It was dire, worst game I've ever seen.

The midweek cup game against Sheffield United in Yorkshire where we went out on penalties after another equaliser in unwarrented injury time. Not only was it cr@p that we went out but the route back to the station was gridlocked and I almost missed the train back. Wished I had when I found out there were Blades fans getting a chant going for most of the way back to London.

Just remembered a non City game which I had to share! In the 80s I think - Leicester v Wolves (Div Two)- only went to see Steve Bull who was scoring for fun and had been called up for England. He got sent off 1st half - match finished 0-0!!

A few people have picked out some of the ones I would mention. The game against Charlton was dreadful. I remember saying to people that there was a good chance we could go down and nobody believed me. I guess they didn't imagine we'd put in such a listless performance. Hughes was the worst.

I also remember the Stockport away game. Such a party atmosphere going on as though we were only playing in that league as a one off but the reality was indeed hard to take.

However, personally the worst game I've seen was Crewe away last year. I think Thorn has just been sacked and it was a team without any confidence. Kevin Kilbane stood out as he didn't make a single pass to a City shirt the whole game. It was awful. Although Saturday equaled it.

Yes, Crewe away last season was a ball breaker. McGoldrick made his debut from the bench and produced our only "highlight" with a snap shot on the turn that just cleared the bar. I was sat down with head in hands in utter disbelief at such an inept performance as all around me were baying for Kilbane's blood after he "confronted" the City fans after one too many boos his way.
He announced his retirement immediately after the game didn't he? In words that is. He announced it during the game in (in)action. A few others could have followed his lead that day as I recall.

The football was bad enough. Their one song 'sing when we're fishing' got on my tits. But to top it all off it was a very windy day. The corrugated roof started to fall down on the stand we were in. Luckily they didn't take many fans. I got hit a couple of times by small bits where it had shattered after hitting the ground. I ended up looking up and not at the game. The stewards and police wouldn't let us move until half time :censored:

At half time they moved the home fans from the front section alongside the pitch and moved us to there. The second half was diabolical. I spent most of it trying to work out WTF I was doing there :D It put me off going to anymore of their games.......until.......we played at their ground.

Think it was a boxing day game. One of my lads is a GTFC STH :jerkit: It is a very cold ground. Our away supporters were in the corner behind a goal. Had family and friends looking for me as they knew I was at the game. But I was in the stand with the Humber behind it. The North sea wind don't get you there. I got noticed when we scored. I was the only one in the whole stand jumping around like an idiot :D Just as I settled back into my seat I got a tap on my shoulder. It was one of them 'here we go' moments. I turned around ready for a bit of trouble. There was a row of older people behind me. An oldish lady leaned forward and told me quietly that they were Cov fans as well but were too scared to celebrate :) We won 1-0. Was a strange game for Lee Hughes :jerkit: IIRC he scored, missed a penalty then got sent off.

The one week last year, lost to crewe 0-3 as we all know in the JPT and then I went to Yeovil following Saturday and lost 0-1 with no effort. Bad week.

The worst game for me has to be the thrashing we got off West Brom in the FA Cup a few years back, 5-0 to them in the end and Doyle sent off for us was literally the most painful thing I have ever witnessed..

Actually that wasn't a bad week for me as I was an extra in a film during the week and met a stunning young lady on the coach back to Devon after the Yeovil game..

Last season at Walsall loosing 4-0, terrible game and the weather was freezing!

Also the 5-0 home loss to wba when they brought over 8000 fans or something and the 0-0 jpt game against burton at the ricoh, won 11-10 on pens lol

Certainly one of the most humiliating. Especially as we fancied our chances going into it. But at least one side played well.

I have lost count of the really dull games where neither team plays well. They do slip out of the memory as there is nothing memorable about them.
