Chris Birchill, David Smith after a few months, Nick Pickering no pace and very limited.
To be fair to Pickering he was never a winger more an old fashioned left midfielder. I agree he was slow, but I will always be grateful to him for scoring some very important goals that kept us up in 85-86 season, setting us up nicely for what came the following year.

my word, what a dredful playerDoes Neil Wood count as a winger? Does he count as a footballer?
When we actually HAD wingers, they were for the most part great - Bennett, Froggatt, D.Smith spring to mind. However since I've been following The City ('86 onwards) there were a host of players playing out of position wide. I still have ghastly thoughts about in no particular order: Sean Flynn, Eoin Jess, Michael Mcindoe, David Bell, James Scrowcroft

i remember shouting from west terrace that he was shit, he stopped, loooked straight at me, and seriously, i thought he was going to cry
LW: Leigh Jenkinson
RW: Ray Woods
I recall he developed a long term back Injury?Woods had an appearance clause in his contract and the club refused to play him.
He and Jenkinson cost £600,000 between them.
